Vehicle Detail

I LOVE this American/Australian muscle car! I’ve NEVER owned a more powerful car and it’s more than likely that you haven’t either. And hands down, I’ve NEVER sat in a more comfortable, more beautiful, all red- leather, fully bolstered interior with 4 bucket seats. This is the last of 3 years of the 2nd generation GTO. The first year, 2004 was only a 5.7 liter (350 cu in) engine. General Motors calls cars like this a “captive import” from the GM Australian Subsidiary called Holden. It came with the factory with a Corvette engine (C6, LS2 6.0 liter V-8) with 400 HP and 400 ft-lbs of torque. The acceleration is amazing in EVERY gear of the stock Tremec T-56 6-speed Manual transmission. You won’t believe how fast 2nd gear winds out. This is a 2006 Pontiac GTO in QuickSilver Metallic with ~85,797 miles. Smoke-free interior. Don’t let the miles fool you. Aside from amazing curb appeal and the appearance of being new (interior and exterior), there are a lot of miles left in this drive-train. And BTW, the previous owner was a GM ASE mechanic. I’m a shade-tree mechanic of sorts and have done a fair amount of upgrades but mostly concentrating on the suspension. I saw absolutely NO reason to modify the power output or the exhaust not via louder, free-er flowing exhaust but many enthusiasts do. I think the stock exhaust is throaty and substantial. I love the sound at idle too. But it’s NOT obnoxiously loud to drive. I thought the suspension needed some work so I’ve listed below the new suspension products I purchased from Kollar Racing Products (http://www.kollarracingproducts.com/servlet/StoreFront). A List of what the mods or service I’ve performed over the past 2 years: LS6 Clutch, Pilot bearing and Slave Cylinder (no increased pedal pressure over stock) GMM RipShift with one piece stick (far more precise shifting over stock) Custom Paint (2 tone hood with accent color also below bottom grill and on rear end panel) License plate relocated from bumper fascia to w/in grill area (This is worth more than words can describe for those of you whose state requires a front license plate Lovells No-Rub Kit Lovells Strut Mounts w/ new bearings Lovells Bump Stops Lovells Coil Springs front and rear (stock ride height) Lovells Radial Rod Bushings (w/ adjustable caster) 2 rear Monroe Sensatrac Shocks 2 Monroe Front Struts with new strut bolts 2 tie rod ends 2 end links Here’s a list of other maintenance or mods I’ve done over the past 2 years: Installed new Radiator, Radiator Cap, 2 radiator hoses, Thermostat and new Dex-Cool coolant. Flushed manual transmission oil from the Tremec T-56 and installed Royal Purple synthetic lubricant. Flushed differential oil and replaced with Torco 85w-140 Gear Oil with Torco Type F friction modifier. I religiously have changed the oil and filters for the past 2 years with Mobile 1 Synthetic 5w-30 as recommend by Pontiac. Replaced the AC Belt Tensioner Pulley and Idler Pulley Replaced both AC and Accessory Serpentine Belts with GoodYear GatorBack belts (very quiet belts). Added Red Lettering GTO lettering in the GTO recessed lettering under the rear bumper facia. I used D&L Window Tinting to tint the side and rear windows. The driver and passenger windows are right at the threshold of what’s legal in MD. The rear side windows and rear window are darker. What I’ll provide (besides the GTO): 2 remote key fobs. 4 high quality clear floor mats so as not to cover up the beautiful black OEM carpeted floor mats with red piping matching the Red Leather Upholstery. The Pontiac GTO service manual on CD as well as the Original Owners Manual Several extra new oil filters I will provide. I’ll have the car MD state inspected for a Maryland buyer. A Skip Shift eliminator to be installed by you. DRIVE-TRAIN - I replaced the clutch about 8 months ago with a LS6 clutch (and Pilot bearing and Slave Cylinder) that also found in certain Corvettes. This clutch is not any hard to depress than the stock clutch. While I’m on the subject of the drive-train I replaced the rather whimpy stock (given the beef under the hood) shifter which was a bit loose and rubbery with a GMM Motorsports RipShift (Australia’s fastest Manual Shifter http://www.ripshift.com/rip_pontiac.html). I opted for the Race single piece handle version as the street version was a 2-piece shifter (that introduces a bit more slop in my opinion). This was a bear to install but quite worth it! The stock Tremec T-56 6-speed Manual transmission was originally developed by Borg-Warner for the Dodge Viper. Enough said. So why am I selling? Although it’s an amazing and fun car, I’m retiring earlier than I thought and need a practical beater to run into the ground. THIS IS THE ONLY REASON I’m selling! I can’t keep both. I only have a one car garage. I had the hood custom painted in a two tone with the stock Quicksilver color surrounding a large wedge of a GM dark Platinum paint including the hood scoops and of course all of it clear-coated. The entire hood was repainted. I used a VERY high quality body shop to do the paint. It’s an absolutely impeccable and not discernible from what the factory would provide. I had the rear panel below the trunk also painted in this same Platinum. It looks amazing. You’ll agree, trust me. I had my painter use the Platinum paint on the lower part of the oval under the repositioned license plate to give it a more aggressive look. The license plate used to be screwed into the bumper facial and looked terrible. (The Fascia has also been replaced and painted as well) It looks great in the grill but I had to shorten up the license plate a bit (I folded it under). You’ll see it in the pix. About the only thing this GTO needs to get on the road is a new set of tires. I’ve adjusted my Buy It Now Price downward by $800 to reflect this fact. SOME BOILER PLATE from the literature: For 2006, Pontiac slid the LS2 6.0-liter V8 under the hood, good for 400 hp. Blasting from zero to 60 in less than 5.5 seconds and blitzing the quarter-mile in under 14 ticks means a 2006 Pontiac GTO will simply embarrass nearly any old Goat you could name. A four-speed automatic transmission is standard, and all GTOs come with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, as well as a limited-slip rear end and traction control. An optional six-speed manual transmission only adds to the fun, and with a fully independent, performance-tuned suspension and 17-inch wheels, this 3,700-pound Pontiac car delivers a relatively supple ride. Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options The 2006 Pontiac GTO is offered as a 2+2 sport coupe in one generously appointed trim level. The standard features list includes 17-inch aluminum wheels, leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats, a premium Blaupunkt audio system with an in-dash six-disc CD changer, a trip computer and power windows, locks and mirrors. Aside from choosing a manual or automatic transmission, the only significant option is a set of larger 18-inch wheels. Powertrains and Performance There is only one engine available on the Pontiac GTO -- a 6.0-liter V8 rated at 400 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. The standard transmission is a four-speed overdrive automatic, but a six-speed, close-ratio manual transmission is available as an option. Regardless of which transmission is selected, all GTOs come with a limited-slip differential and traction control. Safety All 2006 Pontiac GTOs come standard with four-wheel antilock disc brakes, traction control, multistage front airbags and an emergency mode that shuts down the vehicle's systems and unlocks the doors in the event of an airbag deployment. Interior Design and Special Features Unlike the original Pontiac GTO, this modern-day version is no stripper. The leather-trimmed front seats are comfortable and the overall interior design far surpasses that of the defunct Pontiac Firebird in terms of quality and functionality. Driving Impressions On the street, the 2006 Pontiac GTO rides like a luxury car and is easy to drive on a daily basis.
