Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is this 1981 Porsche 924 Turbo. 2.0L turbo slant 4 cyl engine. 5 Speed manual transmission. Silver exterior. Beige leather interior. Approx 150k documented miles. Features: Power windows, locks and mirrors. Gigantic removable sunroof. 15" bronze sport wheels. Large easily visible gauges for oil pressure, tachometer, speedometer, engine temp, turbo boost, and analog clock. Rear spoiler. Vented hood to cool turbo. In dash CD player etc. Rare leather sport seats. Leather wrapped wheel. This is the more reliable "series 2" turbo engine. Known to last many 100s of 1000s of miles with proper maint. Starts right up. Runs and drives excellent. Turbo pulls hard. Trans shifts smooth. Needs minor work here and there as you would expect from a 30+ yr old car. But is well above average condition for the age! Known issues are: Dent on passenger side fender partially covered by bra. Car smokes for about 1 second when started cold. Windshield wipers don't work. Car had an interior water leak. This leak was from the battery tray (common problem). Previous owner repaired this with body filler but said it may still leak under certain circumstances. I have only driven this car in the rain once and did not notice any leaking. This leak has caused the passenger floor carpet to become discolored. Previous owner stated that the stock dual cooling fan was replaced with an aftermarket single fan unit. I was told this will cause the car to overheat in slow moving traffic. I experienced this while driving in beach traffic. The car went up to 3/4 temp. traffic cleared up and I was able to drive at highway speeds so it cooled off immediately. Leather seats have some separating seams. The driverside back bolster is the worst and has been repaired with tan duct tape. Tires are 5 yrs old and have some dry cracks from sitting. Due to the nature/age of car I strongly recommend towing this car. As you can see I value my ebay feedback so I am trying to be brutally honest. Previous to me this car was owned by a Porsche technician and collector. He did some extensive maintenance to the car. Including; 10/4/08 140,230 miles.
