Vehicle Detail
For your consideration is a 1972 BMW 2002tii with all the charm that the the first tii's possessed. This particular BMW rolled off the manufacturing line December 3, 1971 and was delivered to Hoffman Motors December 6, 1971. It's original color was Nevada (001); however, there have been two resprays in its 42 years (red and silver). I'm not sure exactly where the car has been, but it ended up in Kansas City, Missouri. The title in my possession was issued December 6, 1995, 24 years after Hoffman Motors signed off on it and prepared it's shipment to the US. Fast forward to 2009. I found this car and fell over it. The brakes had locked up, so I removed the lines and calipers. I thoroughly cleaned it up with a pressure washer making sure I got into every nook. What I found was some fairly extensive rust on both the driver and passenger floor boards and the spare tire well. Nothing that can't be addressed. The interior is tired ; but with the exception of the steering wheel, seems to be original and looks great in respect to its age. Of note are Recaro seats in place of the standard BMW issue. The engine has turned over and run. The last time was a year ago. I really wanted to jump in and restore this car, but I just don't have the time. So, for all this time, it has been garage stored waiting to be restored, driven, and enjoyed again. Here are the high lights: - Classic roundie tii with almost all the original pieces in place. - Recaro seats - Showing 003999 miles on the odometer. Not sure what is correct, but I would guess that it has rolled over once. - A few bumps and bruises that are relatively minor. - Rust, some that needs to be addressed before enjoying the road. - A broken wiper stalk - Tires that need to be replaced (they are the set on the car when I purchased it). - Brake lines that are removed and need to be replaced. Caliphers that need to be reinstalled. (the parking brake operates perfectly.) - Missing pin for accelerator pedal. The car is not under its own power now with the brake system removed and the missing pin. It can be easily transported, though. I am offering this BMW 2002tii both domestically and international. The car is in Jacksonville, FL, and is very close to both I - 95 and I -10. For international buyers, Jacksonville is a major port that services many countries. I will assist the buyer in any way that I can. If you have any questions, please message me and I will be happy to get back with you and answer to the best of my abilty. It's a fantastic car despite it's easily fixed shortcomings. Good luck with your bidding! On Jul-24-13 at 19:28:52 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: I received two questions that basically asked about matching VIN numbers. The plaques on the steering column and in the engine bay and the stamps on the right fender and engine block do, indeed, match. I hope this helps anyone curious.
