Vehicle Detail
Buy it now is just a few hundred more than reserve. Just lowered price by $2500!!! This is a listing for a 1965 Mustang Fastback. It is the 2+2 with back seat option. Its a Factory C code 289 with a 4 speed transmission which is also the factory original. No mechanical modifications. All stock with original 289 motor and original transmission. This fastback has all of its vin stampings and door tag that all match the clear title. The data plate decodes as a Rangoon red fastback with white and red interior. It also decodes as a very early November 1964 build. We were told by the previous owner that the mileage is original but have no way of verifying this for sure. The odometer says 30,000 miles + but has surely turned over. We were also told that this fastback when brand new in 1965 was put into Los Olas Casino as a prize winning for the slot machines. Again we cannot verify this and haven't been able to get documentation on this but the last 3 digits in the vin are 777 and with the early build it makes sense. The car is running and driving however it will need some carb work to run at its best and we don't want to say that it should be driven very long distances as we have only driven it around our place. We did have the brake lines replaced and put a new starter and solenoid in the car along with other reconditioning that was done prior to us buying it. The previous owner had the fastback painted black with pearl stripe. The paint job is a nice one and the stripes are painted but like any black paint job it isn't 100% flawless but is very presentable with only very small evidence of the original red (under the gas cap there is a small red spot and in the trunk there are a few spots of red) The body is very very straight and has no evidence of rust repair or bondo of any $kind. We did the typical magnet test on all of the panels and there seems to be zero filler and all the panels appear to be original. The engine shows nicely and has been painted as well in the factory Ford blue and looks very stock. The interior is in nice shape. There is no cutting to the dash and still has original radio and a ford steering wheel. The upholstery is all very nice and the headliner and visors are nice as well. The carpet is brand new with new floor mats. The dash pad has no cracks and the fold down rear seat works as it should, I think there is one seam separating on the rear seat but will have to check on that as it is always in the fold down position. The trunk is solid and shows nicely. The glass is all in good shape. The car has dual exhaust that sounds great, not too loud. The antenna needs replacing and the original am radio does not work. The underside of the car is very solid and original looking. One of the front rails has a dent and has some rust around an earlier weld and when restored will obviously need attention. The cost to replace the rail is less than $1,000 and that would be the route we would take if we restored the car. The floors themselves don't need replacing as they are very solid as is. The title is free and clear no salvage. Overall this is a great looking 4 speed 1965 Fastback that you can drive as is after some conditioning or take to the level it deserves and have a show car. These 4 speeds are hard to find in this shape. Please only bid if you are a serious buyer and if you are an overseas buyer please contact us as we have had some bad luck lately with overseas bidders. We can help set up shipping if the winning bidder needs us to and once car is paid for we can store it for as long as you need as we live on 8 acres and have full insurance. Thanks and good luck!! We are also going to sell our 1965 A code convertible in last picture. Awesome condition and ready to cruise!! This is being listed again due to a non paying buyer!! I will report all non paying bidders to Ebay!!
