Vehicle Detail

"Was in storage from 1978 until a few months ago. It was put away in 1978 with only 25k on it, and sat in a barn with stuff piled all over it. I spent a fair amount of time fixing it up...new brakes, new exhaust, headlight rings, hubcaps, wipers, tubes, balancing, plug wires and plugs, hammered out many dents from things being piled onto it, all sorts of stuff. She starts and runs and steers and stops beautifully, and looks great from ten feet back. Up close, there are a bunch of small dings and scratches, it could use a new paint job if you want it looking perfect. There are two ripped seams on the drivers seat, and one on the passenger seat, they are covered up with duct tape but repairable if you want to spend a little time on that. The interior is otherwise pretty decent. There is one small rust area on each side, as shown in the photos, and there was a minor rust hole on the drivers side floor, which I covered with some sheet metal, but the car is not rusty in general, most of these 850s are rust buckets, this one has only very very minor rust. I have a brand new soft top for it, which I have not finished installing, there are a few bolts and such that need to still be done, I will do that if I have time before the end of the auction. It also has the original jack, tool kit, and some Italian original documentation, service books and such, and one book that seems to list places where you can get the best expresso on the autostrada. I don't speak Italian, I can't really tell. This is not a bring a trailer car, or a basket case...it is currently registered and insured and I drive it a few times a week with no issues. Styled by Bertone. It's a LOT of fun to drive, MUCH more comfortable than an MG, roomier, with a better driving position, it has plenty of pep, I have had it out to exactly 90mph, which is as fast as it is supposed to go from the factory. And believe me, going that fast that low to the ground is a blast, it feels very fast indeed. And above all, FUN. It's great fun to throw it around curves at stupendous speeds, it shifts really nicely, has a great Italian car feel. Everywhere you go in it, it gets a ton of attention, a lot of thumbs-up. People LIKE this car, it makes them smile. It is not pristine, but still looks good, you can drive it as-is, or put a little money into paint and body, maybe replace that rusty bumper(parts are around on ebay and other sources) and really make it perfect. I have had a lot of fun with this car, but I have too many projects, and I'm moving on to restoring a Jaguar soon, so some other toys like this one need to go. I also have an original factory Bertone hardtop, which is a really rare item, in a seperate auction" I am selling this for my brother in law, so if you have any questions, give me a day to answer them. Car needs to be picked up within seven days, a paypal deposit of $500 is due immediately after the auction. It will be cheap to ship this car, it is quite small, we are willing to work with any shipper you choose to get it from North Bergen, NJ, to anywhere you want. Sorry, we had to relist the car, a person said they wanted it, but then when it came time to pay, they did not, sooooo...relisted. Payment needs to be serious...don't take up our time if you don't have the money, please, no offense intended. As per the auction terms, payment is an immediate deposit with Paypal, the balance with cash or certified check or WU, within seven days. Thanks! On Jul-09-13 at 05:28:09 PDT, seller added the following information: Note this is also for sale locally and getting offers, if you have a sincere interest, put in a bid, don't wait until the end, as we may sell it elsewhere instead...On Jul-12-13 at 17:04:00 PDT, seller added the following information:PS there were a LOT of people watching the last auction, but who did not bid...the car is for sale locally also, so if you have a serious interest, get your bid in, otherwise, we might end the auction and sell it locally. I say so because we got a dozen emails after we ended the auction, all asking if it was still for sale, they were going to bid but had not yet...anyway, good luck and good bidding!
