Vehicle Detail
1983 Porsche 911 SC Targa We are selling this spectacular vehicle for a friend of ours who is a retired, master mechanic. During his career, he worked on cars, trucks, and air planes. European cars have always been his passion, and he always had at least one to drive. Although the car was made in Germany, it was built to adhere to the regulations of the American NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and was originally imported into California. Our friend purchased it in 2004, and it was non-functional at the time. Since then, he patched and painted any scratches and cracks on the exterior, replaced the seats with leather "Recaro" sports seats, and disassembled, cleaned, and rebuilt the engine. The pistons, piston pins, and piston rings have been replaced. He rebuilt the cylinder heads, and replaced the valve guides, seals, connecting rod bolts (ARP), connecting rod bearings, bearings on intermediate shaft and timing chain gears, chains, and guides. The cylinder studs, nuts, washers, oil drain tubes, 6 injectors and insulators, ignition wires, alternator, starter and fuel pump, axles, oil hoses, irdium spark plugs, the clutch bearing disc and pressure plate have also been replaced. He also resurfaced the flywheel and re-chromed the Nikasil cylinders. The headlights have been replaced with authentic Porsche headlights. * As an added bonus, he is also including a set of "Zimmerman" brake rotors. * All of the aforementioned parts were ordered from, and imported from Europe to keep the car as close to original as possible. Once he got to the point where there was nothing left to repair or improve, he began looking for a new project and has since purchased another Porsche to restore. Thanks to our friend's talent, experience, and close attention to detail, this magnificent vehicle has been brought back to it's original splendor and is now ready for a new owner to fully appreciate. Not only is the 1983 Porsche 911 SC Targa a powerful car of it's time, she also has a beautiful, classic, and stunning body style. Whether you are interested in driving or exhibiting her in your fine collection, she will serve phenomenally! The vehicle title is clean, and the car is in excellent condition with only a small crack on the rear bumper (see photo) and a few tiny nicks you would expect from a vintage car. The car starts beautifully without any smoke, and there are no leaks. Since the car spent most of it's life in CA and the rest of the time covered or in a garage; there is no rust at all, and the original black paint is in good condition. The car's 6" and 7" "Fuchs" wheels are in good shape, and the tire treads are still substantial. If you think that the car looks good in the photos, and that what we've mentioned so far sounds impressive, wait till you see her in person! A classic beauty of this caliber needs to be seen and experienced in person to truly appreciate. The car is being stored in a garage in Scranton, PA and you are welcome to come by and see her for yourself before bidding. To make an appointment, or if you have any questions, please call Tavi: 570-793-7748 * Buyer is responsible to arrange shipping or to pickup the car after the auction has ended. Good Luck!
