...Saturday, July 13th: "Hello" to all the watchers! If any of you are considering purchasing or submitting an offer - please do so. This will be the last time I list the car on Ebay (the fees are killing me). We have found storage at a relative's home and they live along a busy highway and it will be going up for sale there after this listing ends. The buy-it-now price is ultimately what I would like to have for the car but I will consider all offers and I will counter-offer if need be. Pontiac Executive info.: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pontiac_ExecutiveNADA price quote: http://www.nadaguides.com/Classic-Cars/1969/Pontiac/Executive/4-Door-Hardtop/Values _____________________________________________________________________________________ The following is the car's history:The original owner, named "Lillian", was a widow of a retired bank executive, she lived in a tidy South St. Louis neighborhood. It was 1969 when Lillian decided that she wanted to buy a new car, not just any car, a Cadillac. She donned her wool coat to visit the local St. Louis Cadillac dealer to buy her new car. When she arrived there, she stood in the dealer’s showroom waiting and waiting, and waiting, for a car salesman to assist her to no avail. She left that dealership in a huff and arrived at another dealership, this time a Pontiac dealership by the name of “Vincel Pontiac”. There a car salesman readily assisted her in her wish of purchasing herself a new car. There on the showroom floor sat a beautiful yellow 1969 Pontiac Executive four door hardtop, it was to be hers. For the rest of her days, Lillian swore that the reason she never got her new Cadillac was because she had on her wool coat instead of her fur coat, if she would of donned her fur coat instead, the people at the Cadillac dealer would of waited on her.Now the second owners of this car were Lillian’s neighbors. He, a St. Louis Circuit Court judge, his wife and their four daughters. They remember fondly of Lillian and her big yellow Pontiac. The homes in their neighborhood were modest mid century brick homes with attached one car garages, apparently just big enough to house a big yellow 1969 Pontiac Executive. There were many times the judge and his wife had to assist Lillian in putting her car away in the garage as she didn’t want to scratch it or bump it on anything, she was proud of her new car. Many a summer Saturday afternoon the judge would be washing the family car where he said, without fail, he would hear Lillian’s garage door open only to see the big yellow Pontiac slowly backing out of the garage where Lillian would then ask him if he would mind washing her car too. The judge and his family were close to Lillian and considered her family and the feeling was mutual as well. Sadly, Lillian passed away and it was at that time that the judge and his family decided to purchase Lillian’s big yellow Pontiac from her estate. At that time her car had just over 10,000 miles on it. They had mentioned that she only drove it to church, the store and the beauty parlor. During the time the big yellow Pontiac was a part of the judge’s family, their four daughters, one by one were growing up and leaving home. Eventually each one married. At each of their daughter's marriage ceremonies the big yellow Pontiac was decorated and drove the newlywed couple away from the church on to start their new lives together. It was then that this 1969 Pontiac Executive was appropriately titled, “The Wedding Car”. Now enter me, the third owner. One day in 1988 while perusing the classified section of the newspaper I came across an ad for a 1969 Pontiac Executive with low miles for sale, this piqued my interest so I decided to go have a look. I can remember the day like it was yesterday, driving through this tidy South St. Louis neighborhood to arrive at the address given to see this stunning yellow with a white top Pontiac Executive sitting in their driveway. I was smittened. The judge and his wife peppered me with questions regarding how I care for my automobiles, maintenance, etc., wanting nothing more than for their family’s “Wedding Car”, also Lillian’s car, to go to a good home. This old car was a part of this family and I respected that. The car proudly became mine. This old car has received more love and attention from me than what should be sanely possible. Friends and family had told me on more than one occasion that when they die they wanted to come back as my car. It was even our own “Wedding Car” at our wedding in September of 1992. It wasn't up until 12 years ago that I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and slowly over the years I couldn't keep up with the care necessary. And sadly I can't provide a controlled storage environment for her other than our old barn. The time has come to let go with the hope, like the family before me, that someone who has a love for old cars will cherish this one. Thank you.
