Vehicle Detail
This sale is for an unrestored 1969 AMC AMX. IF YOU TRUELY WISH TO OWN THIS CAR PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS IT IS FOR SALE. I HAVE LISTED AND HAD AUCTIONS BEFORE. AT THE LAST FEW SECONDS YOU HAVE NO CONTROL OVER WHO JUMPS IN AND BIDS. A PERSON UNSURE PLAYING GAMES CAN QUICKLY THROW OFF GOOD HONEST BIDDERS. WHEN THE SALE ENDS WITH NO WINNER THE MANY WHO WERE INTERESTED QUICKLY LOOSE THEIR SENSE OF URGENCY. WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RELISTED OVER AND OVER THOSE INTERESTED THINK SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR OR THE OWNER HAD HIS FRIENDS BIDDING ETC. THIS TIME I AM HANGING A VERY FAIR PRICE OUT THERE WITH A BUY IT NOW OR BEST OFFER. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS THE BEST DEAL ON AN AMX AVAILABLE ON EBAY! This is a real X code 390 4 speed w/GO Package that includes over the top black stripes. Power front disc brakes and Twin Grip rear. This is a very early 1969 AMX. Clues to this include the 1968 style shifter. Pressed headliner. The tire pressure decal is in the door jamb instead of inside the glovebox. There are other clues like not having the hooded dash and more. This is a leather interior car. The car has a running but non original 304 engine. The 4 speed is original. The hood is a fiberglass 69/70 AMX Ram Air that looks fantastic. The tach works. Even has the original #319 radiator. This AMX has been stored indoors it is estimated since the 1980's In fact the look of the car has not progressed past the 1970's. The car needs restored. It has the typical rust. This car isn't as bad as many primarily because it was stored inside. Front floors solid. There is rust starting behind the rear seat in the floor pan seam. There is a small hole in the trunk near the tail light panel meets the floor section on the right side. Window channels solid. The quarters have had work. Looking inside the trunk revels the quarters don't look that bad. Looking at the cowl the windshield wiper transmission (RODS) have no paint on them so most of the paint minus the primer is original. Rims are matching and are also original. Funky 1970's gauges installed on the center dash panel. The speedo and tach work. No radio. Stable was added to the fuel and has been stored for several years. The car starts up but could use the proper fluids/wake up. Will need brake work. Master cyl. was new when parked. There are several large AMC shows throughout the year and usually will be able to obtain a 390. for $500-$1000. If you decide to go that route. Any 290 through 401 will bolt right in. AMC did not stamp their blocks vin specific Miths about AMC. The 390 has nothing in common with the FE Ford. AMC V8 engines have all the same exterior dimentions which make engine upgrades easy. AMC designed their own engines and made one block design. It is neither a small block nor a big block. For the accessories like starters etc. Instead of making everything in house like the big three they adapted proven parts for their engines. A process to stay lean. Many ideas and practices never understood by many when AMC was a company have been studied and are being used today by all auto manufacturers. For those who think that a Chevy motor would be a better choice for power I would rather not sell this car to you. AMC engines easily make serious horsepower today. If you don't know please google or bing AMC racing and racing history. These cars ran very well when new. Today they can be made to run better. If you want something different an AMC is the only way to go. You will NEVER blend in at a car show or dragstrip in a world of Camaro's Nova's or Mustangs. Lastly an AMC is not a Chrysler product or a Mopar. Chrysler bought AMC long after the pony wars in 1987. Chrysler destroyed millions of dollars of nos parts for a tax writeoff that can never be recovered, Although Chrysler has had a few parts re poped over the years has done little else for the AMC hobby. **QUESTIONS ** If you have a question please use the ebay ask a question tab. Many times I am asked to call someone when simple things can be addressed through email such as everything already posted in the ad is asked following with one or several of the following;"What is the buy it now? Would you sell now? I have an 2002 Ford Explorer....Wanna trade? I like the car however I want to buy that one rare one part. Will you sell parts? I don't see it but have to ask what else do you have laying in your garage? Want to trade for a 4 wheeler? Can I drive it home on a 1500 mile trip? I want to bid on the car but need to ask the boss....my wife. Using the Ask A Question tab is just easier for me due to my schedule. I realize some people just require to hear a voice. Keep in mind the vehicle is not parked in my living room. So please email your concerns first. If you are not satisfied and/or need more info and wish to speak to me directly I will gladly forward my number to you and respond at my earliest. I am old school and only use my smart phone to talk on. If you want to make an offer to stop the sale, please make the offer by email. Include your full name, location, and phone number. If I feel you are a serious and informed buyer, I will contact you to discuss an outright purchase. I will not discuss offers over the phone so please do not ask questions like "What my bottom dollar is?" or "What do I need to get out of the car?" etc. If you do. I will assume you are not a potential buyer and will cut the call short. No offense, but I have found that people that ask those types of questions, after reading the above, never end up purchasing the car anyway. One last item: I do not respond to text messages at all. Haven't sold your car? I may accept payments (not if your name is Greg.!) and or partial trade. I am looking for AMC parts to complete a Javelin and SC/Rambler restoration. So will buy or trade. I urge any so called experts to come and see the AMX in person before posting any online apprasial, comments etc. Without laying a hand on the car. If it is important enough for you to do so. It is frustrating enough as a seller to post a vehicle for sale. For the many websites that pick up the unusual collector cars to talk about. I thank you for your interest. It is another dealing with people who (1) have nothing better to do and (2) Not knowing what they are looking at. Think before you do a disservice to the automobile hobby.
