Vehicle Detail
This Auction is For a 1951 Willys CJ-5 Jeep. It is complete with a 4 cyl. and a manual transmission. It is a 4X4 and also has a PTO or extra gear box and shifter. This Jeep is a great project and ran when parked, it has been sitting for a a couple years now so may take a little work to get it going again. There are not many of these old jeeps left now days. This one has some rust but nothing that cant be fixed. It still has the Info Plate on the dash showing it was registered to the US Navy in California. The Jeep has a hood scoop or breather on the top of the hood and I believe it is for a snorkel, which was used for driving off road in wet areas or crossing rivers, ect... The jeep looks rough in the pictures but will clean up nice. I will take some better pics of it and add them to the auction in the next day or two. The Jeep has a clear title and to my knowledge has never been wrecked at all. High bidder is to pay the shipping costs, but I will assist with setting up shipping or may even be able to transport the vehicle (we have several tow trucks and trailers) for costs, depending on the timing. I reserve the right to end this auction early if and acceptable offer is given as it is for sale locally also. It wont last long so if you want it now is the time. If you have any questions or picture requests you can email them to me and I will respond. Thanks On Jul-07-13 at 17:35:56 PDT, seller added the following information: ***Update*** This Jeep came stock with the L134 cu in. "Go Devil" engine in 1951. In 1950 Willys Jeeps came out with the 134.2 cu in. (2,199cc) engine called the "Hurricane" which has an F head that is a couple inches taller then the previous L head that was on the Go Devil engine. The Hurricane was put in trucks in 1950 when it was introduced but was not put into Jeep until 1953 and the intro of the CJ-3B. This Jeep is a CJ-3A but has the updated Hurricane engine which is why it has the hood scoop on it. They remained in production until 1971, when AMC purchased Kaiser Jeep. The Block casting numbers are SD807895.The serial numbers on the CJ-3A model #451GBI started at 10001 and went to 54158, a total of 44158 CJ-3A Willy's Jeeps where produced, most went to the military and never made it into civilian use. The total weight of the vehicle is 2203 Lb's with a payload of 1200 Lb's. Stock ground clearance was 8 5/8's inches and Pintle height empty was 20 3/4 ". The steepest grade ability (loaded) that the Jeep is rated for is 86% which is insanely steep. Turning radius is 18 feet, with a total of length of 130" and a wheel base of 80". The jeep is listed as getting 17MPG. The tranny is a three speed but was ordered with the PTO so it has six speeds forward and 2 in reverse. It also is a 4x4 so it has a transfer case also. *** I am including another 50'sWillys Jeep body with this sale and a 302 cu in engine I was going to put in it for a few hundred bucks should the new owner wish to go that route. There are not many of these bad boys left today, get one while you can still afford to. The price on it will only go up from here. The second jeep body still has the factory gauges and most the wiring in it and is in a little better shape then the current one. It does have a few rust issues to fix but nothing the novice or beginner could not fix with a little work. For sure nothing that a couple patch panels would not fix. The Gauges are all good with the exception of the one glass on the temp gauge (its broken and half gone). **This is one of about 200 old vehicles a friend and I will be selling off over the next year.
