Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is this 1953 Triumph T100C. This is a “special” build, and is not in the stock trim that a T100C came in. However, it is a numbers matching T100C; and we do have a clear Texas title for this bike. We requested the factory dispatch on the motor and frame numbers with the VMCC in England to verify its authenticity. There is a scan of the record we received back from them all the way at the bottom of this page. This T100C was delivered to Johnson Motors on April 19th, 1953. The T100C model was basically a race kitted T100R that came with lights and other equipment to make them street legal. We had the matching cases and frame, so we constructed this bike out of our available parts; including some original parts from the Triumph race kit. This bike does not have a T100R style rear frame with lugs in place for rear sets. So, we tastefully constructed our own rear set foot controls. Many other small touches on this bike were hand fabricated here at the shop; such as the shortened license plate bracket. Everything down to the sludge trap is rebuilt, refreshed, or new. We had all the chrome work done by Brown’s Plating in Kentucky, and Buchan’s spoke and rim built the wheels using new chrome spokes and nipples. It has a 21’’ front wheel with a new Avon Speed Master tire mounted. The rear Wheel is 19’’, with an Avon Safety Mileage tire mounted. All the hardware is correct British fasteners, that have been glass beaded and professionally cad plated. A freshly rebuilt BTH Magneto provides spark for the ignition. There is a dual carburetor manifold from Triumph’s race kit fitted. It is fed by two brand new 626 Amal carburetors; instead of the leaky type 276 carburetors it had from the factory. The chronometric Tachometer was rebuilt by Nisonger instruments. The motor and gear box were completely rebuilt here at Big D Cycle. The leaping tigers on the gas tank were hand painted by pin stripe hall of fame member Alton Gillespie. Alton is a friend of ours; he also did the pin striping on the tank. His work is first class; there is no one better at it than him. This bike is fully functional and ready to ride and show. We will ship this motorcycle worldwide (except to the countries listed on our exclusion list, please click the shipping tab above this description for more information). We can handle domestic shipments. International shipping arrangements will be the responsibility of the winning bidder. We can have this bike crated for export for around $475, beyond that the shipping arrangements are up to international bidders. Please understand that we will want this bike picked up or shipped within three weeks from auction end. We ask that you make preparations promptly.
