Vehicle Detail

1970 Dodge Charger 500 Here is your opportunity to own a very desirable Mopar muscle car! This 1970 Dodge Charger 500 draws plenty of attention everywhere we drive it, even though it isn't a fully restored show car. The car was built on March 9, 1970 at the St. Louis Plant. It was originally FK5 Burnt Orange Metallic exterior, K4 Burnt Orange interior, and a white vinyl top. Overall, this is a good "driver" quality car. It is a good running and driving car which is currently powered by a 400 cubic inch big block engine and a 727 automatic transmission. The rear end is an 8 3/4 with 2.76 gears... so it rides great down the interstate!! The engine has a very mild cam, Edelbrock 4 barrel carb, and headers. Other than that, it is pretty much stock. The exhaust runs through a pair of mild turbo style mufflers which gives it a nice tone. The transmission shifts out fine through the gears. It has power drum brakes on the front and rear. The brakes seem to have a hard petal but still work fine like they should. I was going to try new pads and turn the drums, but never got around to it. Like I said, it still stops fine. This is an original factory A/C car but it is not currently hooked up and does not work. The car has nice Centerline chrome wheels with BF Goodrich Radial TAs which gives it a very classic muscular look! The previous owner wanted to give it a "Blade" / "Fast and Furious" look. I think it looks great just as it is!! The body seems very solid for the most part with minimal, but typical, rust issues for 1968-70 B-body Mopars. The frame rails all look great with no rust issues from what I can see. The previous owner purchased a patch panel for the left fender, but never installed it, and could not find it when he sold the car to us. AMD, Year One, Classic Industries, etc. sell this patch panel and is very cheap and easy to install. The interior floors are solid. The trunk floor was patched/fiberglassed years ago and is functional as it is but should be replaced if you want to restore the car to show quality. The semi-gloss black paint (actual paint and not a primer) was applied back around 2005. The body work & paint job show signs of age with wear, scratches, light coverage, etc., all of which can be seen in the photos/videos. The grille is not cracked and has no missing pieces. There is a very slight bow over each headlight which is common with '70 grilles. Finding a nice intact '70 grille is almost impossible! The whole grille was recently repainted with the correct textured argent silver and semi-gloss black paint and looks very nice! We have never tested the headlight motor since we've owned it. So I'm not sure if it works. It is not locked up and will manually open the headlight doors like it should. The burnt orange interior is nice as it is but still needs some work to finish it off even better. The door panels are new from PUI. The front seats were recovered years ago but show signs of wear with splits here and there and should be recovered in the correct pattern. The seats and door pads were dyed to match the door panels. The headliner also needs replacing. The gauge cluster looks nice with new faces installed, the individual gauges should be re-calibrated to make them accurate once again. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! If you have to ask your parents, your wife, or the bank for the money after the auction has ended... please do not bid. Please have all funds to purchase the vehicle ready at the time of your bid. Please feel free to ask any questions you might have and I will try to answer them as quickly as I can. Please read the full description before asking questions that are already answered. Answer to the first question I will get... No, there is not a BUY IT NOW price. Please bid what you are willing to pay. We have set a very modest reserve. After that, whatever the bid ends for is what we will sell for. There will be no negotiation on price after the auction has ended. The next question.... I do not know if you can fly in and drive it home across the country. We have driven the car all over town, in traffic, and on the interstate but have never taken it on a long trip. I'm not saying that it will not make a cross country trip but lets be realistic... this is an unrestored 43 year old car. If you want to try to drive it home, that is up to you but I can not make any promises since I have not driven it more than an hour at any given time. Buyer agrees to pay a $500 non-refundable deposit within 3 days after the auction has ended. The remaining balance is due in full prior to the vehicle being released for transport. All payments must clear bank before the vehicle is released for transport. Payment in person is fine. I am very flexible with holding the vehicle while you are making arrangements to pick up the vehicle or have it picked up. Just let me know your plans and we can work it out. I ask that the vehicle is paid for in full within 10 business days after the auction has ended. Thank you for looking at my auction... Happy bidding!
