Vehicle Detail
This is a 1940 Ford, all original, with a straight clean frame with a matching original Kansas title. It has a lot of rust in the cab floor and lower portions of the firewall, rear corners, rockers, doors, etc. I believe this is considered a 3/4 ton, since it has larger truck styling but the wide five brake drums. It has a straight axle with twin parallel leaves, rather than a single buggy spring (see detail picture). It does have the crossmember which would accept a buggy spring. This crossmember is in perfect condition. The truck rolls and steers fine, I think if you wired an axle on the rear springs it would roll around quite easily. Someone has welded a short extension on the back of the frame, which could be easily removed and ground clean. Other than that the frame is clean and unmolested. It has small oval turn signals on the headlight stands. The windshields are clear and useable if you wanted to build this truck. The passenger door and rear cab window are cracked and cloudy. The driver's door glass is missing, because I had to break it since the doors do not open. In my opinion there are a lot of ways you could win with this. Either use the frame and collect parts to build a nice truck, or do the rat rod thing, weld spiderwebs in the grille, and rivet some road signs in the floors. I'm not sure what else they are doing with them these days. I don't get into pre-war Fords too much, so I've said all I can see and all I know, but would be happy to answer any further questions you may have. If you want to talk about it I can be reached at 316-210-2002. DELIVERY: I can bring this anywhere in Nebraska for a reasonable cost, within the next month or two. Talk to me if you are interested. The chassis does roll and steer. My shop has good access for semi trucks if you want to have it transported, and I am available anytime during daylight hours to meet for loading.
