Here is your opportunity to purchase a very rare, clean custom 1958 Volvo PV444! Bid with confidence! I have sold many rare, high end, Cars and Motorcycles with zero complaints and 100% positive feedback. $.99 opening bid, NO RESERVE! Auction Ends Sunday June the 30th @ 6:30 PM PST Up for your consideration is a rare 1958 Volvo PV444 (1.6l dual SU carb). I am starting this auction at $.99 with NO RESERVE!! This car was restored back in the early 1990's over a time period of 7 years . It was not restored into a show car but more of a presentable daily driver. Obviously the car was painted, the interior was all tastefully done and still looks very good to this day. All the chrome was done at the time of the build and still shines. On top of body and interior work the car also received a low mileage engine out of a PV544 as well as having all the brakes, suspension etc redone to make the car drive as good as it looks. I took a lot of pictures which represent condition of the car very well. I could write for days picking apart every single flaw on the car (which you could do with any car its age) but nothing tells the story like the photographs. Please take your time and carefully inspect all pictures. The car gets an absurd amount of attention. Expect many thumbs up and conversation every time you park. This would be a great car to take to the next level of restoration or just enjoy as a very presentable daily driver. I was told that after the restoration of the car the vehicle was featured in a Volvo magazine although I am unsure which magazine. It is definitely a unique car which you don't see every day. From the paint with stripes and custom pin stripping to the one off custom modern interior, it is definitely something you you will take pride in driving. The builder of the car ended up selling the car back in 2000 to a new family who daily drove the car from 2000 to 2006. Over these years this owner put roughly ~$5k into the car (I have a list of what was done) at a premier Volvo service shop named Rainbow Auto Service in Bellingham WA who specializes in repairing rare and vintage Volvo's. The work done was everything from redoing the brakes to bushings to carb work to the biggest improvement in these cars, a m40 4 speed synchronized transmission over the standard 3 speed. This is not a cheap swap as on top of replacing the transmission a new flywheel, pressure plate and clutch was needed as well as new clutch linkage a different drive line. The car was daily driven until 2006 when the previous owners divorced and the car was parked undercover until I ended up picking it up. Seeing the car for sale and honestly having no clue what it even was (I originally thought it was a old Chevy) other than I wanted it I talked with the owner, looked at the car and after working a deal had it flat bedded to my house. Once getting it to my place I did all the normal stuff you do to a car which has been sitting for years. I purchased a new battery (the car is still 6v, it was never converted to 12v), drained the old gas out of the tank, changed the fluids, flushed the cooling system etc I went to start the car. To my surprise the car started right up, was showing 60psi oil pressure cold, was firing on all cylinders and sounded great. I turned it off, rechecked all the fluids then decided to let it fully warm up. The car idled for 1/2 hour or so, held great oil pressure, coolant temp was where it was supposed to be so I decided to take her for a drive. On the first drive I noticed the steering was very tight and felt like new. The brakes worked very well and you would never guess they were non power, drum brakes all the way around. I did notice one (or maybe both) of the rear wheel bearings were making some noise but that was the only negative noise I heard. I feel like the car is a little down on power to where it could be (although I've never driven another Volvo of this vintage) as I imagine the car would greatly benefit from rebuilding the carbs, new plugs, points, timing etc......just a basic tune up. I wish I am able to keep this car as I never planned on selling it but am forced to financially at this time. Because of this I'm auctioning this car with a $.99 opening bid with no reserve so bid to win. All I ask is if you are serious make sure you have your finances in line, I am requiring a $500 deposit through PayPal within 24 hours of the auctions end and the remaining amount to be paid either in cash or a cashiers check within 7 days of the auctions end. If you want to have the car inspected by someone it must be during the auction and at my place in Kirkland, Wa due to the car not being currently registered. As I mentioned above pictures explain the car better than I could ever do in words but I thought I would mention flaws which could not be pictured as I want there to be no surprises when the car arrives at your place: Passenger door key does not work (locks from inside though) Carbs need rebuild (one leaks from the bottom a little) Small exhaust leak at exhaust manifold to downpipe (gasket I believe) Needs new headlight switch Drivers side front turn signal out Needs tires (although they have great tread they have started to crack from age) Drivers side rear pan soft (you can see rust in that area and some signs of rust in the front section but the front section feels very solid) Loud rear wheel bearings Trunk leaks (needs new seal I believe) Bondo bubble behind drivers door Chrome presentable but not perfect (some peeling/ pitting) Radio turns on but it is just fuzz Carpet could use a redye from being sun faded in areas Drivers seat could use some lube as it is sticky moving front and back Speedo not working (was told it stopped working right before the car was stored so I cannot verify if the miles on the odometer are authentic or not) Could use new door sills (the current ones have some rust under the rubber, I believe the rust is isolated to just the removable sill) Overall for a 55 year old car it's in great shape. It's an absolute blast to drive and seems to create a stir everywhere you go. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me an email and I will get right back to you. Enjoy the pictures below as they accurately represent the condition of the car. If I can remember any other issues, flaws etc I will add an addendum to make sure to check the very bottom of the auction after all the pics. capture screen pc screen shot take a screenshot
