dfcar Store This 1985 Fiat spider is a rare automatic car. The fiat Spider was imported by Pininfarina from 1983-85; the last year 1985 spiders are rare. This car has been mechanically restored and runs good. It still needs body restoration, but is ready to drive home.I bought the car and have gone over it thoroughly mechanically. I planned to have the body redone but need to sell the car now. The engine runs strong and the transmission shifts good. The lights, and electrical accessories have been gone over and work good. I will list the mechanical work done. I have owned and restored Fiats for over 25 years and run a foreign car repair shop. I am an ASE master technician. Work done: New convertible top ( last fall)brake system completely redone. rebuilt calipers, master cylinder, hoses, pads and rotors.Fuel system redone. New fuel pump, tank removed and flushed. Fuel injectors sent out and rebuilt. New hosestuneup all fluids changedtiming belt, seals, tensionerball joints upper and lower, tie rod endsrear axle replaced with 5 speed axle. It performs much better, but the speedometer is a little off. doors taken apart and power windows repaired and lubed. The car could still use tires, they have good tread but are old. I rebuilt the suspension except for the bushings and they make some noise over bumps. The car seems to handle fine otherwise. The body was previously repainted. It does have some rust as shown in the pics, but the floors are solid. Patch panels are available from International Auto Parts (international-auto.com) The interior is in fair shape. The seats have fairly new re-upholstery. The dash is cracked up and the door panels are fair. This Fiat spider has good restoration potential and is ready for some top down driving fun.
