Vehicle Detail
1968 Dodge Charger BodyNO RESERVE! Up for auction is a 1968 Dodge Charger that is nothing more than a shell. Granted, there are a lot of missing parts, this car is still very restorable. About 9 years ago, the whole body was dipped and phosphate coated at Metal Refinishers here in Jackson, MS. Quarter skins were installed along with rear valance and other parts. All parts were purchased from Paddock. The trunk floor, trunk extensions, and interior floors were not installed yet but are included in the auction. The lower sections of the quarters have not been welded either. I'm really picky about my work, so if I were to keep this car, I would go back and re-repair a lot of the work that was already done. But not everyone is like me and a lot of people would be glad to pick up right where the previous owner stopped. The car sat on it's rails for while and was shuffled around which dented the pinch welds and outer rockers. I have taken pictures of the numbers on the radiator support and the trunk gutter, which on pre-69 models do not have any relation to the actual VIN. Just the "B" (Hamtramck Plant), the "8" (1968), the "X" (Charger Line) were related to the VIN. The remaining numbers were not the sequence numbers but instead, was an vehicle order number. The dash frame with the original VIN plate were not sold with the body and I do not know where it ended up. I saw the car before the restoration began and this car was originally green, green interior, green vinyl top, 318, auto on the floor w/ console, and factory A/C. You could use this shell for many different builds.... the body on your project '68 is badly wrecked or too far gone... or you want to build a race car out of it.... or maybe you just want it for parts. It's up to you. Story on the car: A local gentleman started to restore this car as a father-son project. They made a lot of progress on the car and spent a lot of money in the process. The son ended up passing away after a battle with cancer. As you can imagine, the father lost all interest in the this car along with his other projects. The car sat for a while and then he finally decided to sell everything off. He didn't want to piece it out but instead, he wanted to sell everything as one lot ('68 Charger, '69 Charger, '70 Charger, and a trailer load of parts). After many people looked at the lot (myself included) no one would jump on the whole lot. After a year of trying to sell it, he started to piece things out a little at a time. Finally, someone purchased the remaining lot. The lot changed hands a few more times, each time fewer and fewer parts where in the lot and everyone sold it "all-or-nothing"... so I purchased what was left, which included everything you see here along with a pair of complete doors,a deck lid, and a very small handful of misc random parts. I only purchased it for the doors and deck lid. They are not included in the auction but if you win the auction, and really want the doors and deck lid, I will sell them for an additional cost of $500. I would probably keep the car but I have too many projects already. I have uploaded 78 detailed pictures of the car to a Photobucket folder and you can view all four pages at http://s6.photobucket.com/user/CornDog05/library/68%20Charger?sort=2&page=1I can take additional pictures if you like. Just send me a message. This car is being sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty, no VIN, and no title. SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! Please do not waste my time. Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping arrangements. The body is fairly light and will be easy to load onto your trailer. I can assist with loading the car on your trailer. No negotiations on price after the auction has ended. Bid what you are willing to pay. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due within 5 days after the auction has ended. The remaining balance is due before the vehicle is released for transport. All funds must clear prior to delivery. I accept Paypal along with other forms of payment for the deposit. I will not accept Paypal for the remaining balance due to high fees. Cash is person is fine too. Thank you for looking at my auction and Good Luck!
