Vehicle Detail
I'm a collector that has always had a soft spot for 68-72 Nova's. This car certainly deserves my appreciation. I believe I am the third or possibly fourth owner. This car has never been molested or neglected. My explorations of the car have discovered no rust issues, past or present and all body panels appear to be original. As a lifetime Oregon resident, I have been spoiled by cars that have never seen a salted road and therefore have remained 100% solid. My Nova continues that tradition and even the undersides and trunk are excellent. The 2nd owner performed the majority of the restoration in 2000 and 2001. The car hasn't been driven in the rain since the mid-1990's and is always garaged. I fell in love with the car the first time I saw it and purchased it the next day. My bragging rights are somewhat limited. It was already a beautiful car before becoming a member of my collection. The factory 1969 Camaro bucket seats were in-place with correct and matching Nova fabric inserts. I get to take credit for the '69 Camaro center console and horseshoe shifter. The seats and console look as if they were factory ordered and the boys on the GM assembly line installed them. I get more second looks and compliments than I can count whenever anyone looks inside. Besides the fact that the car is very nice in every way, it has some unique and desirable touches that make it a one-of-a-kind while still looking absolutely factory original. She's the talk of every Show and Cruise-In.The next few photos were laid out in a specific order to immediately provide you with a clear view of the exterior, interior and engine compartment as you start scrolling through my photo display. Beyond those first few there are around 100 high-resolution photographs to view and I apologize if they start looking similar and you get dizzy by the end. I simply wanted to present the car from as many different angles and lighting conditions as possible. Your impression of the car should be complete after viewing the 4th of 5th picture and definitely after seeing all of them. I will compose a paragraph that pertains to the photo above it and describe the main components of my Nova in as much detail as I can.____________________________________________________________________________I will also make a few brief comments under certain pictures throughout the photo display. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Nova in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My telephone number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 30th of April at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available.PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Nova. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE The body and paint are outstanding. All exterior panels appear to be original. She was painted in 2001. This was a high quality job applied by skilled craftsman. No tiger stripes in the metallic, no orange-peel or fish-eye. The finish is smooth as you brush the back of your hand down the sides and the shine is impressive. The vinyl top is flawless. I have found no abuses of bondo or other body fillers of any kind. While the paint was still near new someone decided to lightly scratch down both sides of the car with a key or something else in their pocket. I've never understood that part of the human spirit. In any case, the paint repair was done beautifully with a perfect color match. I only mention this event that occurred 12 years ago because very small blemishes can be seen on extremely close inspection. I've provided close-up photos. The paint, stainless moldings and all trim are gorgeous. Both chrome bumpers are excellent and all glass is crystal clear. Mirror like reflections can be seen in absolutely every panel almost as if the car were black with a fresh coat of wax. Please note: The paint holds an incredible shine and gloss. Clear reflections can be found in just about every photo. Look closely. These are NOT flaws but just reflections from objects or landscape in the distance. These photos accurately depict her appearance and were taken by me in my driveway at home on April 24th, 2013. I bet you've never seen another like it! I am extremely proud of the bucket seats and floor-shift center console. Again, this upgrade looks original and separates this Nova from all others. All of the interior is in wonderful condition. Seats, headliner, door panels, carpet and dashboard area are all in excellent shape. Please notice the rare "radio delete" dash bezel. The original dash pad shows slight aging but is impressive for being 44 years old. All levers, switches and knobs still have a nice shine and operate correctly. The original plastic components in the interior are all very nice. The optional comfort-grip steering wheel is perfect. Every light, gauge, wipers, heater, etc, function correctly. I just noticed that the horn is not working. I will attempt to rectify that only non-working item. Even the back-up lights come on while in reverse! One look inside the car is all it takes. The car is NOT numbers matching. She is a factory V8 Nova that originally had a 307 under the hood. She is currently powered by an excellent running small block with a Weiand aluminum intake and Rochester 4bbl carburetor. I removed the valve covers in order to inspect the internals and found roller-tip rockers. I am unsure of this motors origins. It has the smaller block pad behind the alternator so it is a newer engine and my old books stop at 1975. She runs smoothly and quietly with adequate power. The car always starts easily and has a nice idle. Certainly not a Hotrod. Just a very comfortable and nice driving car that performs well. The Turbo-350 transmission has a mild shift-kit and shifts perfectly. The power steering turns with one finger and the power DISC brakes stop on a dime. This car is mechanically sound and ready to enjoy. I made sure of it. Everything has been serviced. All fluids, filters, etc... I haven't noticed any fluid drips on my garage floor but I'm sure there is some typical residue. Almost all of the front suspension has been gone through recently. The shocks, bushings and tie-rod end are new. Factory multi-leaf rear with a 10-bolt, non-posi unit that is church quiet with highway gearing. I am aware of no mechanical issues. Truly turn the key and go. It really is one of the most user-friendly classic cars I've ever owned. You can even toss the keys to your wife and say enjoy. I'll leave that decision up to you. I did use my neighbors driveway for a handful of photos to show the car in different lighting. Again, it's just reflections in the paint and chrome, not dents. The tires are brand new. Even the lower portions are gorgeous. Lower sections of original quarter panels are outstanding. The front end fits together beautifully and I nothing that indicates the car has ever been in an accident of any kind. This is a very small touched-up paint chip on the right front fender. Please notice this small imperfection. These occurred after the key scratches were fixed. The paint match is 100% perfect in every way but these tiny blems resulted. They are only visible under close scrutiny but I'm a detail oriented person and wanted to mention them. They have remained unchanged and do not effect the cars appearance or the fact that she is gorgeous. As stated previously, these flaws are very difficult to see and almost impossible to photograph. I am literally inches away in order to capture this photo but as you can see, it is a crystal clear picture. The view front my front porch has never been better. This car has the perfect sit and stance. Even the rubbers around the wing vents are still soft. Please see the lower front corner of the drivers door panel. There is a small blem on the edge but nicer original door panels would be very hard to find. I believe this to be a very low mileage car but I don't have documentation to support the mileage reading. The entire trunk is excellent. The weather seal channel is like new. I upgraded the radiator to the larger 4-core for optimum cooling. The car has current registration through 2015. I will be keeping the vintage Oregon license plates and putting new ones on for the next owner. All of the undersides are rock-solid. Even the backsides of the quarters are amazing. I lightly pressure washed the undercarriage. The back sides of the quarters are just one thing to be impressed by. 11427- True factory V8 Nova. NOT a 6cyl conversion. Finding appreciation for this car is easy to do. It's ready to be enjoyed and shown with pride. I will remember this Nova fondly. Thanks again-_____________________________________________________________Terms of Sale: 44yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my Nova honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic cars. This is a very nice car but not perfect. I have 100% faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have the free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I would drive this car anywhere but she is 44 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected based on the vehicles age. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see the car for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My telephone number is 503-887-1231. PAYMENT TERMS A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements please contact me BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland Oregon for over 9 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding and that my payment time-lines can be met. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this entire process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately dispatched trucking company. They have handled my transport needs perfectly for the last several years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them before I started using only private carriers were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1200.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or even a low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids at any point for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
