Vehicle Detail
1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 VIN: 1J4GS5877KP100477 I’m often asked where we find these clean, unique vehicles. My best worker cruises parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, the V.F.W. Halls and the back streets of a well-known Scandinavian neighborhood here in north Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving down the road with a turn signal on just a little bit too long and he positively twitches with glee after a vehicle with metal bumpers passes by. If you’re in the market for a great driving, accident-free vintage SUV please give this stock, clean Grand Wagoneer your kind attention. As always, feel free to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the eBay listing. My name is Mark Thompson and I can be reached directly at 206/914-1173. CONDITION: The photos really tell the Wagoneer’s story. Its entire life has been spent driving our salt-free western Washington roads. The original franchise Jeep dealer that sold this rig new is here in Renton, Washington only a few miles from me. Looking over the photos I’m sure you’ll agree it’s obviously been very well cared for since new. We’ve found absolutely NO title brands or history of any accidents, body/storm damage or any insurance salvage to cause you concern. I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here’s a list of the good and also things possibly needing attention: The four wheel drive system works just as it should. Just a flip of a switch and the drive train goes to full 4x4 mode, so most of the time you’ll be in 2WD, not wearing out the strong Dana front pumpkin parts during highway use. The overall exterior is about as nice as you’ll hope to find. What you see is the original factory Pearl White paint and it holds a shine well with no breakdown of the clearcoat. When was the last time you came across a Grand Wagoneer with original vinyl wood trim this nice? Absolutely no fading, peeling or cracking anywhere on either the inserts or the faux wood moldings! The photos show the engine compartment is decently sorted as well. Rust? Please! This classic SUV hates rust and you’d be hard pressed to find ANYTHING to worry about here. Climb over, under and throughout - I know you’ll come up smiling! Turn the ignition key and the 5.9 liter V8 fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears with NO slippage. We received the original dealer window sticker & factory owners manual (both will be passed along to the new owner). The options list specifies this rig came with a 3.31 axle ratio Traction Lock rear end, tow package and auxiliary transmission cooler as paid extras. There’s factory air conditioning, power windows (some a little slow), door locks, steering and BOTH front buckets are power operated in six positions. The original AM-FM/cassette stereo is still in place. I believe every Grand Wagoneer also had power front disk brakes in 1989 and these work just fine with no pulling or binding. It really is a blast to drive anywhere you’d wish to go! Please take another look at the interior shots. Nine times out of ten, the leather and fabric seat panels on these Jeeps are worn, torn and/or split open. ALL the seats in this rig are original and in exceptional condition as pictured. There are NO cracks in the dash pad. Headliners tend to be a problem on Grand Wagoneers, but this one looks great. Same goes for the sun visors & overhead console. The matching original burgundy carpets are in very decent, clean condition with only a small patch missing in the cargo area as shown. All of the door panels have stood the test of time and are in excellent shape. You’ll be quite impressed with the dash gauges. They’re as clear and bright as the day this SUV left the Renton Jeep-Eagle dealership’s showroom 24 years ago. If you’re thinking of bidding on a comparable vintage Chevy Suburban or Bronco, you really owe it to yourself to consider this unique piece first! About the only negatives I can think to point out are the few slow window lifts, the rear window does not respond to the control switch and a recharge of the A/C system is needed. As I've been driving the Jeep over the past two weeks almost daily I also hear some exhaust system or low-end engine rattle. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: Because of the amount of money involved when buying a vehicle, I require Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions to call or email me BEFORE placing a bid. If I don't have this initial contact your bids may be cancelled. Please check my photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to inspect the Jeep at my Auburn, WA warehouse so please call to set a meeting time or send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. As outlined above my name is Mark Thompson and my phone number is 206/914-1173. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally, I reserve the right to end the auction early if the Grand Wagoneer is no longer for sale because we’ve accepted someone’s offer here locally or otherwise. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. The balance is due by cash (in person only) or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later (You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends). We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a bid from the company most of my buyers use (and that Ebay endorses): Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) at dasautoshippers.com. Call my regular rep, Janice, at (469)587-5096 for a quote with my affiliate number (2362642) to pull up all of our location info. As an alternative you might also try the U-Ship.com website as well. Transporters will bid delivery of the vehicle and you'll be able to choose who you want to use. The zip code for pick-up here in Auburn, WA is 98002 when asking for an instant on-line quote from either source. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. The Jeep can be stored free of charge at my warehouse location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. The buyer will be responsible for meeting the licensing requirements in their state of residence. On Apr-22-13 at 21:51:25 PDT, seller added the following information: After several inquiries, I stopped by my warehouse to double-check on how well the A/C works. I'm happy to report that it comes on immediately and blows cold! I've got several Wagoneers stored away there and confused it with another parked alongside. Sorry about that! I'm unable to check whether the tailgate glass will roll down using the key in the rear switch as I didn't get a set of door keys from the young lady that owned the Jeep before us and I've always kept it locked away here in our Auburn facility, not worried about locking the doors. I'm sure a locksmith can make a set fairly quick for the next owner. --Mark
