The B4V-TDI Wagons were only built in 1996 and early 1997, with a total production of only 1400 wagons, with only 980 of those sold in the US. High survival rate due to passionate responsible ownership. There were also around 3800 of the 1996 Passat TDI SEDANS sold in the US in 1996.The Passat B4-TDI Sedan and Wagons, largest VWs ever made. Higher quality, more interior room and better mileage than newer TDIs And they get 45 to 55 MPG, 1000 -1300 miles a tank! And they appreciate in Value! All 1996-97 Passat TDIs built in Germany. Hands-on "Wolfsburg Edition" (most newer VWs now built in South America/Mexico) I have done extensive work to the car over the last two years as i needed a dependable daily driver for my 150 mile commute, averaging 45 MPG! Here is a list of what has been done tot he vehicle in the last two years with dates. Please note all work has been done by a tdi specialist, receipts available upon request. Just turned 300,000 miles and runs and drives extremely well. I would drive this vehicle across the country tomorrow! Upgrades/maintenance- I have gone through this car extensively with records!!!! No Chinese crap parts have been used on this car ever, only OME parts!!! - Timing belt/serpentine belt/harmonic balancer (new version) - installed at 295,000 miles - Head job- taken off and cleaned, balanced, new springs, valves, etc- done 7/12 - Injection pump- replaced with a re- manufactured unit from bora -just installed 7/12 - Neuspeed lowering springs- installed last year- lowers car about 1.25"- handles like a sports car!!! - Koni yellow shocks/struts with new mounts front and rear - adjustable- installed last year - Cat filter upgrade- double filtering capacity- - Regular oil changes with vw spec full synthetic oil( pentosin 501.00) - All new coolant lines - A/C recharged last summer- blows ice cold!!! - New glow plugs- installed in last 3 months - Replaced sunroof with a used one, works like new - Various new wiring harnesses - VW 7 spoke alloys from a jetta MK3 - New bridgetone capital tires - 195-60-14 for best gas mileage- 2/2013 - Euro 'angel eyes' lights- not installed comes with sale - New emergency brakes installed- both sides- 6/2012 - New drivers window regulator-6/2012 - Original recaro's ( set) from a 92 jetta gli. No rips/tears. Issues: One patch of rust about size 2*2 on bottom of rear passenger door- easy fix various dents- can easily be pulled out new hood- which didn't get the best paint job- previous owner clear coat pealing in one section along front drivers panel by hood. Everything works on this car as it should from the factory. This car has no issues period. I have taken the hit and fixed everything! My loss is your gain. I have spent over $10,000 in repairs and upgrades over the last 2 years. On Apr-16-13 at 13:34:49 PDT, seller added the following information: car has good compression (400) even in all cylinders. Apparently one of the previous owners hit a deer and it crumpled the hood. An new hood with matching paint has been installed.
