Vehicle Detail
2002 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer Sport Utility 4-Door 4.6L Reason for Selling: Purchased a new Toyota Tundra for work, no need for second car and dealership offered ridiculously low trade-in value. Estimated Value: I would argue that this is in good condition for a 2002, which KBB lists as $5,907. Below are pictures of the KBB valuation (and the options selected to get that), as well as two offers from dealerships (one from CarMax and the other from Texas Direct Auto), which are traditionally 2-3k under the final value of the end-owner's price, which is inline with KBB's valuation. Condition: I have never had any problems since owning the car - I have maintained regular oil changes and other basic maintenance. Drives fine. Please see the CarMax Appraisal Offer: Things to note from the CarMax Appraisal: The seats, carpet, engine, tires, transmission, and wheels are all in "Good Condition."The car was repainted by the last owner. The car has a crack in the rear gate, right by the Ford sign. This is true for nearly all 2002 Ford Explorers - it stems from a defect in that piece that couldn't handle temperature changes. You can replace, but it is likely to crack again. The car has a silver dollar sized crack in the front windshield (passenger side so it doesn't affect safety inspection). I had it professionally sealed, but it is cosmetically a large crack. Additional Pictures: Down Payment: My offer from TX Direct ends on 4/24 (2 days after the auction ends), so I need a $500 deposit on the car at least 24 hours after the end of the auction or I will sell the car to TX Direct. Please feel free to send me any questions!
