This is a 1981 Honda CX500 transformed into a café racer known as The Brat. This bike was built by Greg Hageman of Doc’s Chop’s. To see what Hageman and Doc’s Chop’s are all about see his site! http://docschops.net/ This is the bike other people try to recreate! I purchased the bike from Greg at the Barber Motorsports vintage meet’s Ace Café section in October of 2011 The powder coated wheels are in top shape with no dents, rust, scratches or flat spots. The brakes are great, with plenty of pad life left on both the single front disc and rear drum brakes. The clip-ons and fork brace were Tarozzi. The rear set’s were custom made. The front end is lowered 2 inches with progressive springs. The bulky speed-o and tachometer were replaced with individual gauges. The electrics and battery were moved under the seat. The headlight lens was replaced with a yellow tinted lens. The front fender was removed and the rear was modified. The air filter box was replaced with K&N pods. The Candy Tangerine paint looks great and really makes this bike stand out. The stock, custom fuel tank seals properly and has no rust, heavy scratches, dent’s or dings. The tank was modified to sit lower on the frame and is in great condition. Both the front and rear tires are in nice shape with plenty of seasons left. The suspension is great front and rear, the rear shocks were changed and have a spring adjustment. The front forks have spring, compression and rebound damping adjustments. All the seals in the front forks are great with no leaking fluid. The sparkplugs have recently been changed and the pod filters cleaned. The seat is in top condition with no loose threads and a very comfortable feel. The exhaust and mufflers are both in great shape except for a 2 tiny touch-up areas where I let the tie-downs touch while transporting her home from Barber. She comes with a center stand and side stand. The bike took Greg about 2 months to build. His work has been featured on Discovery’s Velocity Channel Café Racer series, seasons 1 and 2. http://www.caferacertv.com/tag/season-2/ To see what this beauty looked like right out of the gate check this site out! http://www.choppershotz.com/Motorcycles/The-CX500C-Brat/19294084_GMXCCk#!i=1506754411&k=RrdCnCS This bike has been lovingly cared for in a climate controlled shop and attended to by a full time technician. Her battery’s been tended. She’s been fed non-ethanol Stabil-ized fuel. We’re about to add a little Marvel Mystery Oil to the food supply as well just for old time’s sake. Nothing’s too good for our girls. You can fly in to meet us at AEX and drive this bike home anywhere. Please be aware that reflections can sometimes appear on the paint or chrome pieces that may look like imperfections on the bike. Whatever the case, it is the responsibility of the buyer to request any number of photos that he/she feels is necessary to completely illustrate the condition of the motorcycle.
