Up for sale is a 1981 CB900 custom. This bike is unique in that it is a 5 speed with a hi and lo range, creating essentially 10 gears. It also has a shaft drive as opposed to a standard chain drive. I purchased this bike last year with the intention of cleaning it up, making it into the cafe racer that it could be. Fast forward to this year, and I simply do not have the time and money to make that dream come true. The bike does have rust on headers going into the 4-1 exhaust, other than that, it is pretty rust free. The tank was poorly painted by the previous owner, I intended to strip it and go with a custom paint job, so that was not an issue for me, there is no rust in the tank. Now for the bad news: The bike is having some sort of issue when riding. The bike starts up and idles great, but seems to be a bit jerky when going around town at around 35mph. I am getting some popping in the exhaust, so it could simply be a bad spark plug. I don't have the time to investigate, hence why i am getting rid of the bike. The bike does leak a bit (about a drop or 2 of oil a day), I was told that a new gasket was in order. Over winter I did have all 4 carburetors overhauled. For someone with a bit of bike knowledge, this could be a great daily rider, or you can see it through to the cafe racer stage! Questions? Send me an e-mail and I will get back to you within the day.
