Vehicle Detail

1969 Chevrolet Impala 427 convertible. This is a real survivor and authenticity is guaranteed. Base engine 330 hp. It is rough, but the body and frame are sound, was purchased from the south in 2001. Was originally (at least in 1988) from Tennessee, I registered and drove from late 2001 to 2003 registered in New Hampshire. Drove well till it broke a valve guide (now blows oil and smokes). Found valve umbrella broken in head. Runs and yard drives. Has been in primer for 6 years, and the results you see which is surface rust. Stored outside unfortunately. Top is 7 years old and sound, needs cleaning. Console car with buckets. All or most trim pieces are there. Needs major restoration obviously. PS, PB disk brakes, PW, air conditioning (not hooked up). Had a dream to paint it black with nice large chrome wheels. The original 427 cars sell for big money. Popular questions are about the condition of trunk, some requesting more pictures. I will try to get more, but can't promise, I live an hour from the car. The trunk is rot free. The interior needs all new covers, the seats are sun baked. The door panels are off and in the trunk. The panels may be salvageable not sure. Depends what you're level of restoration abilities, but they are intact. So, new seat covers needed. Again, this is a major project, not trying to hide anything, ask away. The quarter panels are intact, not sure if mother nature has invaded with rust, but if she has it was limited to pin hole size last time I looked at it which was about a year ago. The front floor pans had rot which were poorly repaired. Water got in an ate away with a standing pool of water, compliments of my poor storage. It was stored outside. The frame is solid. Has surface rust but not eaten away. May be cheaper to replace hood and trunk lid, but can be ground and repaired. The engine compartment is virtually untouched original. So, in short the car is very rusty (surface) but very solid. A lot of grinding and prepping needed, but minimal rot. I do have the original owner's manual. Car sells for as cheap as $4,000.00, no reserve. Car is currently blocked by a dumpster in use to empty house. It could be as late as third weekend in April to have flat bed access, but am told more likely will be moved by first week in April and available for tow at end of auction.
