1987 Volkswagen Vanagon GL Standard Passenger Van 3-Door - 2.3 Liter Engine Normal 0 Normal 0 I have a 1987 VW Vanagon transporter van for sale. This is a California van with absolutely no rust. The body and interior are in good condition and the drive-train runs very well. It has an Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioning and just over 200K on the body and a new 2.3 liter engine. The van has a full title and was registered in California until November 2011. The previous owner told me that he spent $5000 to have the original 2.1 liter engine replaced with a new 2.3 liter engine less than 500 miles ago. Yes, you read that correctly... a new 2.3 liter engine with only 500 miles. The heads are brand new (AMC) heads most likely supplied to an engine rebuilder in Los Angeles by GoWesty, since GoWesty is nearby and is one of the only suppliers of the 2.3 liter conversion kit that uses AMC heads. In addition to spending $5000 to have the new engine installed, the previous owner spent over $2000 to have the cooling and fuel systems rebuilt. The vehicle has new oil, new coolant and a complete tune-up, including new spark plugs, new distributor cap and ignition rotor and a new oxygen sensor. The fuel tank was removed and taken to a radiator shop and completely cleaned and a new fuel filter and fuel lines have been installed. The front end is tight and the van has a good set of tires with plenty of tread left as well as original VW wheel covers. For tunes, it has a Sony CD player with faceplate and carrying case. This transporter van will seat seven people easily. The back seat can be made to fold down to make a rear bed. It can also be used as a transport van by removing the middle and rear seats. However you plan to use it, this is an excellent van for the price.
