Vehicle Detail
Summer is around the corner and what better way to kick it "old school" than to cruise in this very tastily modified Datsun?? It seems like it was locked up in a time capsule from the early 80's, the short bed and standard cab really bringing out the coolness factor. Being a 1979, it has the 5 speed transmission and front disc brakes, to bring it up to "modern" standards. 2 liter engine idles and runs great, no smokes, no leaks, which makes me think that it's been rebuilt somewhat recently. The 5 speed transmission shifts as it should and the clutch feels great, I recently replaced the master and slave cylinder. Also recent are the starter, brake pads and rotors, shocks and bushings. Also, I replace the dual carb set up that it came with to a new single Empi/Weber setup to pass smog inspection, although the truck ran great with the dual set up. Interior is all stock including the factory tachometer, but the bench seat was reupholstered and fresh carpet installed. Stereo is a very unique JVC Chameleon with remote, looks very clean. Also, the previous owner added the tastefully placed oil pressure and volt gauges, being careful to choose period correct looking ones. Not shown in the picture but included is the jack cover. The dash, protected by a Dashmat, is 100% perfect (not a "cap") with no warpage or cracks. The headliner, as you can see in the pictures, is original and in great shape as well. The exterior was repainted the original color (matches interior color exactly) some time ago and still looks great, but does have some scratches behind the passenger door, lower, from someone's shopping cart recently, and the dent by the tail gate was from the previous owner, an 86 year old who backed into his own garage after showing the truck to sell. The "Datsun" logo on the tail gate is genuine gold flakes, and the pin stripping throughout was done by hand, and are not decals. The tonneau cover fits snugly and a rubber bed liner was made to fit. Also a very cool feature; the rear license plate bracket is hinged to access a tow receiver, complete with 6 pin plug. Raised white letter "Hot Rod" tires have less than 2k miles mounted on period correct Western mag wheels, this Datsun drives smoothly on the freeway. This retro Datsun was what I always wanted, complete with bed hooks and "SSS" front spoiler, and it's been fun to own and drive but life happens so it's up for sale. So, why would you buy a ratty project when for not much more, you can have this?? Reserve is very reasonable, but if you use the Buy it Now option (NO exceptions!), I will throw in all those extra parts, including the complete and ready to run Dual carb set up!! This truck is also offered for sale locally, so if you want it, hit that button! The title is clean, clear and in my name. Thanks for looking!
