Vehicle Detail
This is a buy it now auction for a very rare Edsel in above average condition. It was purchased by my father in 1966 in Greenville, Texas. It is a Corsair which is the "top of the line" Edsel for 1959. The car was ordered with the big 361 Super Express engine and 3 Speed Automatic Transmission but was not ordered with any other options like power steering, power brakes power windows or air conditioning. The car has the 60/40 front seats, radio, vaccum wipers, factory 14" wheel covers in near perfect condition. It has new wide whitewall tires i ordered from Coker Tire. The front seats need recovering, the back seat is original, in good shape. the carpet is black and needs replacing. the headliner is nice and the door panels are nice. On to the exterrior, the body has only one dent i know of, about the size of a golf ball on the driver's side shown on the upper crease in one of the pics. The dent is so small, the paint isn't even chipped. There is one dent in the rear bumper on the driver's side. These dents were in the car when my dad bought it. The paint is original, and in very, very good condition for it's age. There are 6 small white spots on the top of the passenger front fender where i removed and placed the battery caps when i was probably 11 years old. The paint has turned white on these 6 spots but not rusted. All the Chrome and Stainless Steel are present and in excellent condition. I replaced all the wheel cylinders, brake shoes, turned the brake drums, replaced all the rubber brake hoses, flushed the lines, rebuilt the master cylinder and added Silicone Brake Fluid which resists moisture. The car is equipped with reverse lights, which was an option for that year. I was attempting to replace the exhaust with dual exhaust i bought on ebay, but i gave up on it after replacing the pipes coming off the engine. I have all the rest of the exhaust including factory edsel mufflers that go with the car. The transmission has a bad leak, probably the front seal. The car has been sitting for the past 12 years, so the fuel is bad in the tank. I tried to start the car last summer, i rebuilt the Holley four barrel and replaced the fuel pump. It will start with a shot of gas in the carb but the fuel in the tank is bad. I have lost interest in the car and want to sell it as is. I can't roll it outside to wash and wax the car, that is why the pics are so bad- they don't do the car justice-it is a very sharp, complete rust free Texas car that has spent the last 47 years in the garage. Really! All the glass is in good condition. The price is firm at $3800.00, buyer makes arrangements for transportation from Burleson, Texas 76028. Any questions, i will be glad to answer. Buyer pays a $500 non-refundable deposit, balance in cash when picked up. I WILL NOT SHIP THIS CAR, BUYER MAKES ARRANGEMENTS FOR TRANSPORTATION OR PICKUP.
