Vehicle Detail
Clear, current Arizona Title to "42 Ford GPW58368" * Matching Frame and Tub. * All-GPW Sheet Metal (Tub, Hood, Grill, Fenders, Windshield) in above-average condition (with exception of rear floor). No BONDO on the jeep. Most of the bigger extraneous holes have been welded shut and ground down. * Correct GPW "F" Front Seats. Some cancer spots to patch but these are very solid, complete and unmodified. * Five Original Combat Rims (probably on the GPW since Day 1) * Original GPW FE Bracket (needs small restoration to closure catch) with correct WW2 Decal-Type Fyr-Fyter Fire Extinguisher. * GPW Bolt-Ons including Pintle Hook, Spare Tire Bracket, Foot Rests, Grab Handles, Footman Loops (all), Reflector Rims (3), Shovel Head Bracket, Axe Handle Bracket, Marker Lights (restorable), Dash Safety Strap Rings and Tool Box Lids. * Original Gas Tank -- shows postwar repairs, fiberglass (over the steel) and needs cosmetic work but it holds gas and is CLEAN inside. * Complete WW2 Steering System -- Green Sheller Wheel, "F" Column Tube, WO "Ross" Gear Box w/EXC Pitman Arm, GPW Drag Link, GPW Bell Crank and GPW Tie Rods). * Original WW2 Gas Can Bracket (correct, post-factory addition). * Original (and recently rebuilt) WW2 Master Cylinder. * "Turn-Key", GPW Engine with GPW Head, GPW Manifolds, GPW Oil Filler Tube and Dipstick, WW2 Water Pump, postwar WO Carb (EXC) with correct WW2 Linkages, Foot for WW2 Crossover Tube (likely "F"), WW2 Starter, and WW2 Autolite IAD4008 Dustproof Distributer. Likely wartime replacement engine (blank number boss) with a 12/44 casting date consistent with the PCV provisions on the Intake Manifold. There are several original Ground Straps as well as the inboard Air Cleaner Bracket, Oil Can Bracket (missing catch and spring), original Choke and Throttle outer Conduits, Harness Clips etc. Engine * Correct WW2 Exhaust System (not currently mounted). Includes a previously NOS Header Pipe and Original Muffler with all mounting hardware. I would've installed it but there were two stubborn mounting bolts (one of which was "F") and I decided to leave their extraction to the buyer! Note the original Brass Dataplates, Cast Brass Windshield Latches, Motometer Speedometer (core for rebuild), GPW Clutch/Brake Pedals, one Dash Light Cover, original Mirror Arm Assembly (it will come with an original mirror as well). The push-button starter switch is temporarily mounted in one of the Dash Light holes. The significant body work remaining involves the Rear Floor (from the rise behind the foot rests to the rear panel) and patching the rust spots/hat channels (see earlier post) and extraneous holes that remain. Other than the rear floor, the back looks pretty good... Note the angle iron rear panel reinforcements (this GPW never got the GI retro-fit kit) and the reinforcements to support the (post-factory) Gas Can Bracket. The floor shock boxes are intact and could be grafted to a new, flat floor panel. Underside hat channel is hammered and, like the floor above, would need to be replaced. Tool Box Locks are there but one has a wood dowel replacing the push button(!). The Tank Well has the usual rot but is definately restorable. Both brass drain necks and tank mounting straps are intact... As mentioned, this is PROJECT and as such it is missing most of the usually missing parts. The list of "expensive" missing parts (ie over $100) includes the following: * Correct 6.00x16 NDT Tires/Tubes/Flaps * Canvas Seat Cushions * Top Bows and all related Mounting Parts * Rear Seat and all mounting parts (except for one Tube Support and one Retention Spring) * Wiring Harness -- complete * Brake Lines (there is a steel, double-flared set on it now but it's not correct in length or design). * Spring Set and Torque Reaction Spring -- currently has a postwar set of springs that sit nice. I'm including a set (3) of WW2 Shock Mount Brackets for your conversion back to the WW2 Shocks. * Axle Assemblies (both) -- currently has a postwar (M38?) set to which a King Pin was added so the WW2 Tie Rods and Bell Crank could be used(!). I am including a set of rebuildable GPW Axle Assemblies (no rear axle shafts or front flanges though). * Air Cleaner and outboard Mounting Bracket * Fuel Filter Assembly. * Fuel Line * Gauge Set * Switch Set * Battery Tray * GPW Radiator (has the M38 one now which works fine) * 6V Generator and related mounting parts -- if you wish to go that route. It currently has a remanufactured 12V Generator. * 6V Voltage Regulator -- if you wish to go that route. Currently has a small 12V Regulator. * GPW Headlight Buckets/Trim Rings and High/Low Bulbs. Has a postwar NAPA set on it with "Spot Light" bulbs. * Fender Blackout Drive Light Assembly with Guard. * GPW Bumperettes (pr) The following accessories and parts are included in the package: * Set of four Repro. WW2 Shocks (unused) * Original WW2 vintage decal-type Fyr-Fyter Fire Extinguisher (correct for the original bracket on this jeep). Shows age but still nice. * Replica Fyr-Fyter M2 Decontaminator -- made from a vintage Fyr-Fyter FE with added Filler Cap Retention Chain and WW2 Nozzle (dummy). Looks very good and matches the brand of the FE. * Correct strap-back Shovel and square-back "Collins" 4lb Axe. Axe is postwar but fits and looks fine. * WW2 Gas Can with original paint. Exterior very nice. Interior has some charming petroleum-based sludge that I'll leave to the buyer... * Set of rebuildable GPW Axle Assemblies (as discussed above). * Correct WW2 Exhaust System (as discussed above). Simply put, there's still plenty of work to be done and money to invest but you'll be starting with a great GPW to begin with. The amount of body work remaining will be left to your taste.
