Vehicle Detail

1979 International Harvester ScoutVery Rare Factory Right Hand DriveI have no Idea abut the mileageOriginal Paint - I've been told not to change it - it has a great patinaBody is solid with some mild rust spotsI bought this about 3 years ago and put a little over $3,500 in restoration, ready to try a new project. Here's what I added, fixed:New Wheels, Tires ($1600.00 and less than 100 miles on them), has a full identical spare (5 new wheels and tires)Dual Brand name Flowmasters and exhaust pipesNew BrakesNew ShocksNew Radiator, thermostat and capNew Heater CoreNew Fuel PumpNew HeadlinerFixed Lights - they all workAftermarket horn, horn buttonWindshield Wiper reservoirGrill, headlight bezelsNew Ignition switch and matching key for all doors and locksNew belts, hoses, spark plugs, fluids Here's what I haven't fixed:It still is cold natured and slow to start - drives me crazyLeaks oil, not sure where from (I'm a Doctor not a mechanic - I borrowed that from Star Trek - but it's true)Temperature gauge does not work - no sending unit - I couldn't figure this out - see Doctor excuse above Missing padding on Drivers (left side) doorDrivers door needs adjustingDrivers Window crank does not work - but you can pull it up and down and it stays putNeeds windshield wiper bladesI had the Carburetor worked on but it still is not quite rightThe front seats are from some other vehicle and have been welded in place and do not adjust (The guy before me did this) I just don't have the time to finish this. It looks great. My kids love it and are mad at me for selling it. When my teens have driven it to school, it is always a hit, everyone wants to ride around in it. It gets more comments than my Mercedes or Porsche, someone always asks me how much I would take to sell it. I am putting a reasonably low reserve. On Mar-24-13 at 11:16:47 PDT, seller added the following information:Here are some facts I forgot in the original description: ENGINE: International Harvester 304 V8, Carburator: 2 barel, I have the 4 original wheels and good tires to offer with the vehicle, It has a 3" lift, It currently is not a daily driver and needs tuning - but it starts, drives, the automatic transmission is sound and I have never tried the 4WD. It will drive 65-70mph but it is scary and I like to drive it about 45-55mph.On Mar-25-13 at 16:01:04 PDT, seller added the following information: I added a few pictures of the floorboard and the only rusty spot on the outside of the body, just in behind the passenger door (on the left - confusing isn't it). The floor pans are in pretty good shape with the original paint still in place in spots. I suspect this has been stored inside most of the time. It started right up today first try.
