Vehicle Detail
mbclassic Store 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer 4x4 VIN: 1JCNJ15U4JT197337 I’m often asked where we find these clean, unique vehicles. One of my best workers cruises the parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, the V.F.W. Halls and the back streets of a well-known Scandinavian neighborhood here in Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving down the road with a turn signal left on just a little bit too long and he positively twitches with glee when a rig with metal bumpers passes by. If you’re in the market for a great driving vintage SUV please give this Grand Wagoneer your kind attention. As always, feel free to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the Ebay listing. My name is Mark Thompson and I can always be reached directly at 206/914-1173 during an auction. CONDITION: The photos really tell the Jeep’s story. It has spent the past fifteen-plus years driving our salt-free western Washington & Oregon roads and has obviously been well cared for over the years! I take great pride in the vehicles we sell and feel that you should know as much about them as possible. Accordingly, here’s a list of the good and also things possibly needing attention: The four wheel drive system works just as it should. With a flip of a switch the drive train goes to full 4x4 mode, so most of the time you’ll be in 2WD and not wearing out the strong Dana front pumpkin parts during highway use. When was the last time you saw Wagoneer vinyl wood trim this nice? Absolutely no fading, peeling or cracking on either the inserts or the faux wood moldings! The gold paint has had a decent respray to the original factory gold color sometime in the past, though I see a small amount of clear coat loose on the roof. Not enough to warrant new paint at this time in my opinion, but there. The photos show the engine compartment is decently sorted. Rust? ABSOLUTELY NOT! This classic SUV hates rust and you’d be hard pressed to find any to worry about here. Climb over, under and throughout - I know you’ll come up smiling! The long-term owner upgraded the suspension and added a nice lift kit a few years back to allow for beefier tires and better ground clearance. I think it’s really an improvement over the stock setup. Turn the ignition key and the strong 5.9 liter V8 fires right up with just a few pumps of the gas pedal. The exhaust is channeled through Summit Racing-Doug Thorley custom headers allowing easy breathing and a deep, burbling idle. The oil pressure gauge reads where it should and stays strong on the road. The three-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly through all gears with NO slippage. There’s factory air conditioning that’s been upgraded to modern R-134a refrigerant, power windows (all functional) and power operated front buckets in six positions. The tailgate window rolls up and down properly. I believe every Grand Wagoneer also came with power front disk brakes in 1988 and these work just fine with no pulling or binding. It really is a blast to drive anywhere you’d wish to go! Please take another look at the interior shots. All the seats in this rig are in very good condition as pictured. There are NO cracks in the dash pad. You’ll appreciate the addition of the modern AM-FM/CD Stereo and the very sharp custom wood steering wheel. Headliners tend to be a problem on Wagoneers, but this one looks fine, though the rear dome light is missing. The tan carpets are in very decent condition including the rear cargo area. Same goes for the sun visors. All of the door panels have stood the test of time and are in excellent shape. I know you’ll be quite impressed with the dash gauges. They’re as clear and bright as the day this rig left the dealership 25 years ago! If you’re thinking of bidding on a comparable Chevy Suburban or Ford Bronco of similar vintage, you really owe it to yourself to drive and look this unique piece over first! About the only negative I can really think to point out is a title brand way back in 2004 indicating rebuilt status. Don't know why as it occurred a decade and many thousands of miles ago, long before coming to our warehouse. Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice vehicle from a respected Ebay seller. My main goal is be sure you’re happy with your purchase - and your dealings with me – with the hope that you’ll be back again for another vehicle in the future. Note: WE will NEVER, EVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law). Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, I require Ebay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions to call or email me before placing a bid. If we don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: Please check the photos over closely and call me with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to inspect the Jeep at my Auburn, WA storage warehouse so please call or send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. As outlined above my name is Mark and my phone number is 206/914-1173. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally I reserve the right to end the auction early if the Grand Wagoneer is no longer for sale because we’ve accepted someone’s offer here locally or otherwise. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with me. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later (You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends). If you do decide to have the Grand Wagoneer shipped home, there are many vehicle haulers to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from the company most of my buyers use and Ebay endorses: Dependable Auto Shippers (dasautoshippers.com). Give my regular rep, Janice, a call at (469) 587-5096 for a quote with my affiliate number (2362642) to pull up all of my location info. I’ve found them to always be professional, on-time and you WON”T have the problems encountered so often with small carriers. As an alternative you might also try the U-Ship.com site as well. Broker/Transporters will bid delivery of the vehicle and you'll be able to choose who you want to use. The zip code for pick-up here in Auburn, WA is 98002 when getting an instant on-line quote from either source. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. You may keep the Jeep free of charge at our location for up to two weeks after the auction ends assuming full payment has been received. After that period storage is $20 per day. The buyer will be responsible for meeting the licensing requirements in their state of residence. I will leave the current license plate on the Wagoneer so it can be driven while getting your new licensing done.
