Vehicle Detail
No, it’s not a 69 Charger or 70 Cuda convertible, but it is still a very cool example of a rarely seen, one owner, survivor car with a Very Low Reserve! Now let’s get started.... On February 16th, 1972, Loraine V. Snyder bought this 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus new in Mt Vernon, Washington. I have the original Washington title issued to her. This fine example has spent its entire life here in Washington State in its original home town of Mt Vernon. I purchased the car from Loraine’s estate. Oddly, I lived a half mile away from this car for 21 years and never knew it, due to it was rarely out of the garage. The odometer shows 84k, however I don’t know if it’s rolled over or not. Looking at the overall condition of the car I would suspect it to be original miles. The all stock 318 2bl engine idles nicely and when you hammer it at 40mph, it downshifts and takes off without hesitation. No knocking, clattering, pinging, smoking or otherwise. It runs like a true gem. The stock 904 trans works equally as well. The car rides true and straight down the road at all speeds. All of the items under the hood appear to be original Mopar parts installed at the factory. When I bought the car it had the old school 4 ply bias tires on it that were completely dry rotted. The car had not been licensed in several years. I put modern radials on it and put roughly 160 miles on the car to ensure it was roadworthy, which it most certainly is. With the exception of the trunk lid, the car sports 100% of its original Rally Red paint as near as I can tell. It still has a beautiful luster to it, however in places it is worn thin, which to me, gives it that sweet patina look that so many people try to re-create. It’s nearly impossible to find vintage cars that haven’t been modded, beat or hijacked of their originality. This is a legitimate barn find guys! It does have her fair share of bumps and bruises due to Mrs Snyder didn’t see so well in her final years. The forward edges of both front fenders have some compression dents, as does the rear quarters. See pics for details. The good news is, that what you see is what you get. No hidden surprises. Any true car guy will appreciate an original paint car with minor dents over a cheesy re-spray and sub-par paint/body work. To me, the dents add to the patina and tell the cars history at the same time. The only rust in the car is isolated to the fore and aft wheel well lip on each rear quarter. (See pics for details) It is fairly minimal by classic car standards. The floor pans and trunk are completely rust free. The vinyl top is original and it has no tears or rips. Speaking of vinyl, check out that original interior! Man, what a time capsule. It hardly looks used, although the front driver’s seat of the ultra cool, buddy bucket seats do have some seams coming apart in the butt cushion, which has been temporarily fixed with NASCAR approved black Duct tape. Cheesy fix I know, but I couldn’t see putting a re-pop seat cover on one side considering the cars originality, but the new owner can do as he chooses. The dash pad is flawless! Not one crack! Headliner? Mint! Rear seat? Mint! Door panels? Mint, check out that glory shotof the door medallion. The carpet is a little worse for wear though, but still has some life left. All of the factory gauges, oil, temp, amp, etc work. No idiot lights here. The rear window defogger and rear/front seat speaker fade control knob also function as they should. Speaking of tunes, the factory AM radio works as well. All lights, turn signals, back up lamps, horn etc work. The car has its original bumpers that still have an above average luster to them and unbelievably have no dents in them. The old school Firestone E-78 spare is still in the trunk, as is the original jack hardware and trunk mat. Like I said, this is a great find for those of us who live in the real world and can’t afford the 440 six pack cars, or the Hemi, 4spd cars. The car is priced with a very reasonable reserve! This is a legitimate survivor car that already has my neighbors talking. They can’t believe what I found. It is in exceptional condition for a 41 year old car. More importantly, it is a one owner car with rich pedigree with its original documentation. I am a tried and true Chevrolet fan that has owned several one owner Chevrolet’s. Although my allegiance is to the Bow Tie brigade, I can assure you, I appreciated this car for what it was the moment I laid eyes on it. If I didn’t have my eyes on a one owner 71 Malibu right now, this car would proudly be staying in my shop with my current Chevrolet’s. With that being said, my expertise is in Chevrolet products, so if those of you well versed in Mopar products see I missed something important please let me know. Also, if you’d like any additional pictures let me know and I will get them to you ASAP. Shipping cost is the buyers responsibility. D.A.S. is E-bays preferred shipping company and I have used them on several occasions as well as other companies. I can assist you if needed. $500 non refundable Pay Pal deposit due within 24hrs. Remaining balance due within two weeks. The car is and will continue to be stored indoors until ready to ship. Thank you and good luck.
