Up for auction is a 1975 CB400F that I bought from the second owner. This bike had been in his garage for approximately 20 years due to an elecrical issue that he didn't want to bother with. The regulator and fuse block were deterrmined to be the only issue and the electrics work fine today. I did not go to any extreme measures with this bike - you are getting an "honest" bike here. As you will see in the pictures this bike is nearly 100% original and is a survivor. What I have determined about this bike is that it indeed was knocked over or very low-speed dropped in it's earlier life; the handle bars are the 1977 version (taller), the gear selector is a bit askew and the left side handle grip is slightly biffed. The tank shows no signs of impact although it has it's share of scratches and small dings from use (the first owner I'm told used the bike to transport some lawn decorative bricks from the store on the gas tank). The chrome is not NOS or show condition by any means but is very good for a survivor/driver. Other than the electrical repair, I did the following: ultrasonically cleaned the carbs, replaced the low-speed jets, installed the correct clutch cable for the taller handle bars (NOS cable), new battery, new tires/tubes and replaced the carb intake boots (NOS). As you may also see in the pictures, I did not go overboard on cleaning - I gave this enough cleaning to get it driveable and verify my initial belief that this would be a good bike for someone. The all important question about the exhaust is this: the exhaust is what you see. The header pipes show thinning of the chrome but shine well (ref pictures) and the muffler is an original Honda muffler but is not the original from 1975. This muffler notes on the disclaimer tag that it is for "pre-1983 motorcycles". The gas tank is relatively clean showing some brown staining but no heavy rust. I have driven this about 30 miles and it drives well - I think the new owner will want to get intimate with it and go over the tune of the carbs and ignition but it starts easy with the electric starter or foot kicker. I'm not sure this is enough information so all I can add is that if you have questions, please let me know through the Ebay messaging system and I will get back to you as soon as possible. The collection/shipping of the bike is the responsibility of the buyer. I am asking for a $500 deposit within 48 hours of auction completion and final balance due at pickup or before. If balance is paid with certified check it must clear before release of the bike. The bike is located near Columbus Ohio. I can assist with moving it to a local shipper if that would help (we can discuss when necessary). This bike has a clear Ohio title in my name.
