Vehicle Detail
I own this car for my son to use commuting to high school and college. Now that he is about to graduate from college, he has moved on to a larger vehicle, and I wish to sell this one. I bought it from a dealer in Toms River, NJ in April, 2008. Prior to that it was a one-owner car which had been purchased from Circle BMW in Shrewsbury, NJ. Here is "the good and the bad" in order for you to make an informed decision: First, the good: The New Jersey Inspection sticker is valid until 05/2014. A/C is cold, radiator works well. Tires are less than a year old: all four are Firestone Affinity. Rims are original and in good shape. New brakes installed in August, 2012. New complete exhaust system installed a little over a year ago, due to it being rear-ended. Also has a brand-new rear bumper. New catalytic converter installed in 2009. Non-smoking vehicle, even from previous owner. All on-board electronics and gauges work. Radio and casette player work. On board computer displays time, temperature, average speed, MPG, and range at the click of a button. Have both keys and original owner's manual. Original spare tire and jack are in the car. No cracked glass, all lights work, a few bumps, scratches and a few pinpoint rusty spots as would be expected from a vehicle this age. Excellent fuel economy (24 city, 30 highway). The engine is smooth and has lots of power. Rear wheel drive. No leaks. Has had regular oil changes. Top speed 125 MPH. Manual Mode transmission capable. Sunroof works well and does not leak. The car has been in Virginia most of its life, and was not here for Hurricane Sandy or any other flood event. Then, the bad: Both windows have come loose from their mounts, must remain up at all times. Passenger window is permanently locked in this position. The automatic transmission usually needs >3000 RPM's to change gears. The "check engine" light is on. When we took it to Circle BMW, they confirmed it was an electrical short. At this point, I do not want to spend money to fix an electrical circuit. Right brake disk out of alignment. It will make noise when the weather is warmer. Passenger side rear speaker is out. The hatch will not stay open by itself. We've been using an ice scraper or broom stick to hold it open. Interior headliner upholstery is coming loose in spots. It is completely off the interior portion of the sunroof, but it does not affect its performance. Third and fourth gears make a rumbling sound at low RPM's. Power steering leak; pump makes a constant grinding sound, especially on left turns. So, there you have it- everything I know to the best of my ability. Please view the pictures carefully, but please realize that since I took the plates off, I couldn't take it to the carwash, but all window and bumper stickers have been removed. I've been told that I could make more money "parting it out," but I have neither the capability nor the inclination. Please email any questions you may have, as I may have inadvertantly missed a detail which may be important to you. I will not ship the vehicle; this is for local pick-up only. I sell only to United States buyers. The title free and clear and is in my name, despite the contrary on the attached free vehicle report. I will sign it over to the winning bidder when he or she comes to pick it up with proper identification and balance due, if any. A payment must be made within 72 hours of your winning bid: either make the entire payment through Paypal, or place a $200 deposit by Paypal, and pay the balance with money orders purchased at the United States Post Office at the time of pick-up; pick-up must be within (7) seven days of your winning bid. I will not accept cash at the time of pick-up. Vehicle must be removed from the premises immediately after title is presented to the buyer. This is, of course, an "as-is," final sale. Thank you for viewing my listing. On Mar-14-13 at 05:50:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Due to a number of questions I have received despite what I believe to be very clear language in the listing, I feel compelled to include the following statements so that there are no misunderstandings or erroneous assumptions: 1. Under no circumstances will a refund or adjustment be made because the vehicle does not meet your expectations at the time of pick up, nor will it be considered grounds for such claim. This is an "as-is, final sale" as seen in my description. 2. How the vehicle is removed is up to the winning bidder, i.e, flatbed tow truck, drive away, etc. Despite which method is chosen, the winning bidder must remove the vehicle off the premises immediately after the title is presented to him or her, as written in the description. I feel that seven days is more than adequate to make such a decision and prepare for removal. 3. There are no guarantees that past performance is indicative of performance after purchase. Please read the portion of the description entitled "Then, the bad:" and be mindful that this is an older car, and neither my son nor I are car mechanics. If you do not have confidence that I have described the vehicle to the best of my ability, then please ask more specific questions, or carefully consider the risks or benefits to your chosing whether or not to bid. 4. I cannot drive the vehicle to your location or any other destination. The plates, registration and insurance have been removed so as to accomodate my son's new vehicle.
