The CLASSIC 1962 PONTIAC TEMPEST LE MANS - CONVERTIBLE GM's First Economical, Mid Sized, Luxury, 4 Cylinder Convertible! As did other automakers, GM saw the growing need for smaller, mid sized and more economical cars. Though 1961 was the first year of the Tempest, the 1962 Tempest Le Mans was the first year of the Convertible option. This upgraded Le Mans model was just as innovative as the Corvair in the fact that it was equipped with a front engine & rear transaxle, connected by a unique torqueshaft that was dubbed “Rope Drive”. This gave the Pontiac the same floor space as the rear engined Corvair, as well as the only other GM car equipped with a fully independent rear suspension. This particular car starts right up and purrs like a kitten. The convertible top is brand new along with new rubber weather strippings. (Note: the convertible top motor is not functioning correctly, therefore the top must be opened and closed manually). The seats, interior door panels & sun visors have been re-dyed to their original state; and the engine compartment has been completely detailed to new condition. Its 2 gear, 4 cylinder automatic engine drives and shifts without hesitation, and the tires are about 85%. Please note, thou I personally do not see any evidence of frame or serious damage, the title is labeled as "salvage". Other than the front bumper & the 1963 grill being in need of some tweaking and minor cosmetics (headlight bezels, Pontiac hood Logo) etc. I firmly believe that this unjustified title is a classic example of our Insurance Company's hard at work! 1962 PONTIAC TEMPEST
LE MANS - CONVERTIBLE
GM's First Economical, Mid Sized, Luxury, 4 Cylinder Convertible! As did other automakers, GM saw the growing need for smaller, mid sized and more economical cars. Though 1961 was the first year of the Tempest, the 1962 Tempest Le Mans was the first year of the Convertible option. This upgraded Le Mans model was just as innovative as the Corvair in the fact that it was equipped with a front engine & rear transaxle, connected by a unique torqueshaft that was dubbed “Rope Drive”. This gave the Pontiac the same floor space as the rear engined Corvair, as well as the only other GM car equipped with a fully independent rear suspension.
This particular car starts right up and purrs like a kitten. The convertible top is brand new along with new rubber weather strippings. (Note: the convertible top motor is not functioning correctly, therefore the top must be opened and closed manually). The seats, interior door panels & sun visors have been re-dyed to their original state; and the engine compartment has been completely detailed to new condition. Its 2 gear, 4 cylinder automatic engine drives and shifts without hesitation, and the tires are about 85%.
Please note, thou I personally do not see any evidence of frame or serious damage, the title is labeled as "salvage". Other than the front bumper & the 1963 grill being in need of some tweaking and minor cosmetics (headlight bezels, Pontiac hood Logo) etc. I firmly believe that this unjustified title is a classic example of our Insurance Company's hard at work!
