Vehicle Detail
A recently completed 1946 Ford Coupe. Frame off rebuild. Chassis Chassis Engineering rear leaf spring/shock kit. Chassis Engineering front shock kit. All new front suspension bushings, Speedway front disk brake kit 4.75 lug, new kingpins. Speedway power booster/proportioning valve. Stock beam axle, unsplit wishbone, original spindles, original front sway bar and panhard. The rearend is a 3.08 open from my 1956 Chevy in excellent condition. Rear brakes are freshly rebuilt. I have a 3.56 P-case posi for sale separately, but would deal for. 4 new Wheel Vintiques wheels and trim, with 4 new 225/75 15 radials and new lugnuts. Engine/Transmission I love this engine. It is a rebuilt .40 over 283 with a steel crank, new bearings, Melling cam (stock) and rebuilt 1.94 double hump heads with new valves and springs. The rotating assembly is balanced. It is run by a Howell throttle body fuel injection system, stock distributor converted to Pertronix, new water pump, belts, pulleys, etc. The exhaust is 2 1/4 single outlet with a large Thrush turbo muffler, and rams horn manifolds. The Borg-Warner T-5 5 speed is mated with a stock aluminum bellhousing, 156 tooth flywheel, stock pressure plate and disc (new). It shifts perfectly. 4.06 first gear and .82 overdrive match this combo just right. The front motor mount is a Speedway unit that bolts to the factory flathead mounts. The bracketry is all Alan Grove components. The fuel tank is brand-new reproduction from Tanks with an in-tank fuel pump for the TBI and new sending unit. New aluminum radiator and battery. Body The body was very straight with minor rust spots wearing its original Dove Grey under one gold repaint. The Omni Dark Cherry factory color mix paint is laid over PPG DP-90 primer and K36 sealer. This paint is 2 years old and showing the effects high altitude sun on the hood and right front fender, It might be polish out, I have about 1/2 gallon left for touch up/repaint. It is not a perfect paint job, but looks pretty nice. Lots of compliments on the color. The all-original stainless steel trim was polished and installed with all-new clips. There are a few imperfections in the trim. Reproduction antenna. All of the fenders and aprons are original to this car. The rear bumper apron has a paint crack right in the middle that i showing some rust through, not sure what happened there, it was pretty straight. The bumpers are original to the car and have not been replated. They need to be replated. The grille stainless is new reproduction as is the outside rearview mirror. All of the glass is new including the rear window, all are light tinted (factory like tint) I scratched the drivers side door glass on a clip. Dang. Interior The interior is a complete LeBarron Bonney reproduction kit in original colors, carpet in the back, reproduction rubber floor mat up front. Trunk panels are their repro cardboard replacements with a length of carpet not yet cut to size for the trunk floor. Original interior lighting. The original dash has been fitted with TPI Tech quad guages and optional tachomer. All the dash trim is Drake reproduction. The radio is a modern cd/ipod compatible unit that is over-complicated but comes with a maual. The speakers are 6x9, 2 in the rear package tray, one in the original dash. The wiring is EZ-Wire 21 circuit kit. 12 volt electric windshield wiper conversion from Speedway. A Vintage Air Supercooler is fitted under the dash for HVAC and works great. On Mar-08-13 at 07:18:21 PST, seller added the following information: I have had a couple of questions about rust. I uploaded an additional picture of the rear bumper apron rust spot. The paint cracked there, flaked off, and a rust spot about the size of a quarter is exposed. That is the only rust I know about. The floor pans, and trunk pan is solid. The floor pans even have the original Dove grey paint under a layer of bedliner. The removeable pan forward of the front seat had some rust, but I covered it with POR 15 and it seems pretty solid. There were typical rust spots at the lower door jambs that required small patches, then were sealed with POR 15. This is a solid western car. The entire frame was cleaned and painted with POR 15. I found no signs of damage.
