Vehicle Detail

This was a "barn find" 1931 Chevrolet 3 window coupe that was last run in 1960. The car was fitted with a 1940 chevy 216 engine and transmission, so it is not an all original car. It comes with a rebuilt 1940 216. The wood in this car was in place but was fairly rotten, cracked, broken in many places despite having been stored indoors for 4 decades. The wood was not salvageable, and was replaced with 1" square 1/16 wall steel tubing throughout the entire body. The floor is 16 guage steel, the subrails and subrail crossmembers were modeled after the original wood pieces and made with 1 1/2 X 3 steel tubing, which was dimensionally similar to the original wood pieces. The doors fit nicely with good gaps, and open and close properly. This car was originally had a trunk, but was crudely converted to a rumble back in the day. I replaced that damaged sheet metal, and the original lid fits pretty well, opens and closes, but the latch is not installed. Holes in the firewall are filled. This body was very straight with almost no rust and little damage. It was stripped to bare steel, the original black paint was under the hand-painted blue pictured. There is some filler near the door jambs at a weld seam, on the steel roof insert, and the tail pan under the rumble lid. The left rear corner was damaged and repaired with lead. I have original plate glass for the windsheild, 1 door, and the roll up rear window. Included are the mechanisms for these. The original dash and guages are included. Included are 2 brand new bare steel Bowtie Reproductions rear fenders. The frame is sandblasted bare steel, straight, with old damage to the right front frame horn. It is sitting on a 1940 Chevy front axle with hydraulic brakes, and an 8 inch ford rear with adapters to mate the 1940 Chevy steel wheels. The original front and real axle and 19 inch 6 lug Kelsey Hayes wires are included, if you want them. The original front fenders are bare steel, rough but saveable. The running boards are in original condition. The hood is still blue and in good condition. The grill shell and original radiator are in good condition. The front radiator slash pan is rough as is the fuel tank cover. The entirety of the car pictured in blue is what you are bidding on. This car is mostly still in bare steel and is ready to be restored or hot rodded.
