Vehicle Detail
I bought this as a father/son project a few years ago from a retired Marine. Before we could get around to working on it, my son joined the USMC himself and moved away. It's time for this Jeep to go to someone else. The guy I bought it from used it as his daily driver until it overheated. It looks like he replaced the radiator, but after overheating. All he did to it was add the front bar and lights so it's pretty stock. I bought it and towed it home. I replaced the starter and battery to get it to start. I also had to rebuild the steering column and installed a new sector gear (that's the thing that engages the ignition switch rod and steering lock) and a new ignition switch. I had a look at the brakes and the linings are all good. It will run when the carb is filled with gas, but won't suck from the tank. My guess is the rubber lines going into the tank need to be replaced. From what I can tell, it needs at least a head gasket. My plan was to pull and rebuild the motor anyway since it was likely to be tired at 150K miles anyway. I drove it down the block and the steering seems pretty tight and the clutch seems good. I never went more than about 20 MPH though. You will need to tow or trailer it to your destination. The tires are 9.5x30x15. They are all good with nice tread and no dry rot that I've seen. As you can see in the pictures the body has the usual trouble spots, but the front floors were repaired well. The real areas is solid as can be. I'll include the gray storage boxes that are shown. The seats are bestops and need a real good cleaning. The frame is pretty good but not great. The engine compartment is nice and stock and it looks like all the smog stuff is still there. The driving lights on the front brush guard aren't connected so I don't know if they work. I replaced the floor mounted dimmer switch and now all the exterior lights and signals work. I'll throw in the "Jeep CJ Rebuilder's Manual" with the sale. I value my feedback rating and have described this Jeep to the best of my knowledge. If you have questions, I'll answer them if I can. This is an "as is where is" sale.
