-NO RESERVE AUCTION- Numbers Matching 327 & Factory 4 speedUnder 83,000 actual milesCompletely originalUntouched for over 35 years Well, where do I start? A brief history report is probably the best place. In the fall of 1974, a young man from Wyoming came here to Portland Oregon in the Camaro to attend Bible College. He rented a room in a small Boarding House. When he was ready to move on he sold the Camaro to the son of the owner of that Boarding House sometime in 1975. The car was used for a few months and then parked in an old garage when the Wyoming license plates expired. The gentlemen I bought the car from (now 73 years old) did NOTHING with the car in over 35 years. He said he drove her a little in the late 1970's but since then she's been ignored and hibernating all this time. The car was never for sale. I ended up in his garage to see some other antiques he had advertised. Covered in years of garage clutter was the Camaro sitting on 4 flat bias-ply tires. At that point, I could care less about anything else he had! I began negotiations to purchase the car immediately. The car was surrounded by assorted vintage bicycles, old pedal cars, miscellaneous antique car parts and stacks of stuff on the roof, hood and trunk lid. I should have taken photos of where she sat all those years but in my excitement to get the car, it slipped my mind. It took several hours to get the Camaro out. He said it would run, which I did not believe. He connected a crusty old battery, took off the air cleaner lid and dumped a little gas from a coffee mug down the carburetor. Vroom! Stumbled and ran as soon as the key turned. I was amazed and paid him as agreed. This car has just under 83,000 original miles and has NOT been driven since 1976 or 77. We aired up the tires and I had her flatbed towed home where I installed a new battery, new battery cables and 12 gallons of fresh gas. I topped off the anti-freeze and took her for a spin! That's it, I did nothing else. I did not flush the fuel system or even change the oil. She runs smoothly on all 8 cylinders and shifts correctly through each gear of the 4 speed transmission. Guys, they are NEVER found like this anymore, especially numbers matching with a factory 4 speed, original Fathom Blue paint and interior and yet, sometimes they find me. I am attracted to "Survivors" and my collection is full of them along with some nicely restored original cars. It was not my intention to restore this Camaro. I'm going to let one of you enjoy that process. I appreciate her just the way she is!! Her current condition generates more compliments and comments than any glossy show car ever will!! The car is very solid and rust-free with the exception of the right rear wheel lip and a few #2 pencil sized holes in the rear floor behind the drivers seat. They are minor and the undersides are actually very solid and have never been undercoated. All other body panels and trunk appear completely solid as well. There is also a little typical Camaro rust in each lower corner of the windshield but again, that's easy to rectify. Other than age related character marks and patina, this is how the car has always looked. No Cragar mags, no air shocks, no dual exhaust, no aftermarket gauges or added doo-dad's, etc. Kept all original except for the accessory 8-Track tape player. I didn't put even one hubcap on this car. The body color matched steel wheels and dog dish center caps are all the car has ever rolled on since she left the showroom floor. That's the general run-down. I'll provide more detailed information under several of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Camaro in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 26th of September at 7:30PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and my Camaro becomes no longer available. *Everyone, especially if you are outside of the U.S. or Canada or you have a low (0) eBay rating, PLEASE SEE MY TERMS OF SALE provided below the last photo.* PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Camaro. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I personally took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE The car is still wearing almost all of it's original paint. Paint code E-E for Fathom Blue. A very pretty but rare factory color. At some point in the late 1970's, the previous owner started sanding on the roof and trunk lid in preparation for having the car repainted but that never happened and the car has remained unchanged for over 35 years. Original body panels are straight. There is a dent on the lower portion of the passenger door and on the right front fender which I believe is the ONLY body panel to have ever been replaced (photo shown below). ALL other panels are obviously factory original and I haven't found any abuses of bondo or other body fillers. The interior in 100% original. The Pioneer 8-Track player was added in the 70's. The dust from the drivers seat has transferred to my clothes during my short drives. I removed the carpet to expose the floors. They appear solid. As mentioned in my main description, I did find very small holes in the rear floor pan behind the drivers seat. Factory 4 speed console. Other than a new battery and battery cables, nothing has been touched on the engine for several decades! Oddly enough, the original 327 runs well. No lifter ticks, knocks or misses. Even the automatic choke and fast idle still work. She starts easily and has a smooth idle right away. In order to provide an accurate mechanical condition report I have driven the car about 15 miles during 2 short drives. I did notice just a little smoke occasionally when I first left my garage but that seemed to clear up as I drove and got parts moving again. Remember, she had not been run or driven in 30+ years. There will be service and maintenance required before driving this car ANY distance. I will have the oil and filter changed prior to sending her to her new home. The car is numbers matching. The first set of numbers on the engine block pad matches the VIN# on the dashboard. The second set designates 327-V8 for manual transmission application. Driving across the Burnside Bridge into Downtown Portland the day I took all of these photos. The grill is cracked and bent and the lower valance is dented. She bumped into something at very slow speed long ago. This repair is minor. When I originally got the car there was a 1/4 inch of dust and garage debris on it. I fought washing the car in any way but I needed to expose the true condition. Again, I should have taken a picture. The only improvements I performed to the car was a new windshield and radio antenna. Not even a rust blister. Very solid. Drivers quarter panel is rock solid. Just where road travel has worn the paint away. All solid. I don't know how they hold air!!!! The tires are age cracked and hard as a rock and probably touching 40 years old. Fred Flintstone had smoothing riding tires! I did have to replace one tire but I replaced it with a matching bias-ply. Again, drivers quarter is solid and all inner wheels houses are excellent. All glass is nice. The drivers door window shows some vertical scratches. Both door windows roll up and down easily. The rears need a little help from never being used. Very typical light rust in each corner of the windshield. This fender is the only replaced body panel. It is an original fender. This is the ONLY body rust I've discovered and is isolated to the right rear fender lip. Again, inner wheel houses are absolutely beautiful. These plates have been on the car since she arrived to Oregon. They expired in 1975. I have registered the car here in Oregon and will be providing a clean and clear Oregon certificate of title so that the next owner will have smooth ownership transfer. Even the reverse lights work!!! This is almost NEVER the case even on restored cars. The 4 speed reverse switches are normally removed or simply wear out. Originality at it's best. Actually, every light on the car works down to the interior dome light and license plate light! The interior photos speak for themselves. Floor pans are solid. That coloration you see under the pedals is old sound deadener and carpet adhesive. This is the only floor rust I discovered. It is located behind the drivers seat where the rear passengers feet would rest. I removed as much of the mouse nest's I could find. They took just about all the stuffing from the seats and put it in the headliner. Home sweet home apparently. They did NOT harm wiring or anything else within the car. They just loved the cotton stuffing. Everything works! All lights, gauges, speedometer, turn-signals, brake lights, heater, wipers and even the horn all work! The only exception is the original AM radio which doesn't seem to function. I made an X in the dust just for comparison. Driver rear floor pan. All other floor pans seem very solid. That original plastic guide plate is rarely still in-place. Even the dash lights. These are the original miles. Even the idiot lights work! Trunk is solid. Just a little rust scale that would wire brush away. My explorations of the trunk have found no issues. The weather seal channel is excellent. Yes, I have the front license plate too. The only 2 things I light cleaned in the engine compartment are the air-cleaner to show the 327 sticker and the firewall data trim-tag. Notice the firewall. It is going to clean up beautifully. Just Wyoming dirt and dust. Cowl area is gorgeous. Other than that minor bump in front, no damage has ever occurred. The core-support, header panel, etc, are untouched and original. The radiator appears to have been upgraded to a larger than stock unit. The original muffler fell off during loading her onto the tow truck the day I bought her. Undersides are generally impressive and solid. They have NEVER been undercoated. You can see the remains of mouse nests in each frame end. Like I said earlier, all inners and backsides are extremely nice. Light rubbing with a rag exposed this floor. Even the backsides of the rear quarter panels are nice. Reverse switch. Transmission castings. As mentioned previously, the tires are decades old, age checked/cracked and rock hard! But, they are one of many things that supports the cars history and long-term hibernation. Yes, I have driven the car locally. Anything above 35mph is NOT advised. 12437 designates Camaro V8 Coupe and the L means she was built in LA California. The last 8 digits are clearly stamped into the engine block pad. The firewall trim-tag has NOT been repainted or restored in any way. This is simply how dry and solid she is. Again, the firewall should clean up like new. Even the white double lined pin-stripe is original. I appreciate this car just the way it is and the honest story it tells. They just don't come any more raw and genuine than this. Completely original, solid, with original paint, numbers matching drivetrain and factory 4 speeds in this condition are all but extinct. I assume I will never find another. Regardless of your intentions, this is the right car and very difficult to find. ____________________________________________________________Terms of Sale: 45 year old vehicle being sold AS-IS:Please read and agree with the following: I have described my Camaro honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic vehicles. To my knowledge everything is currently in working order per my written description above. Clean and clear Oregon title in my name will be provided but please expect a very short delay. As stated previously, I have driven the car a few miles in order to be able to accurately describe her mechanical condition. She runs, drives, shifts and stops but after sitting ignored and un-maintained for over 35 years lots of routine servicing and repairs should probably be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see her for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My phone number is 503-887-1231. -PAYMENT TERMS- A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 10 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due in-full within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. They have handled the movements of my collection and all of my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1400.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. I will stay involved throughout this entire process and help in any way possible. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
