1985 Mercedes 300 CD, 2 door Coupe turbodiesel with 169,108 miles ( 300CDT w123) Anthracite gray (MB color code 172) Tan MB-Tex interior. The car has been driven lightly but regularly in the past 10 years (averaging ~2500 miles a year) and has been well maintained by a local Mercedes specialist. It is rust free. This car has not been abused or neglected. It is always garaged. The legendary 5 cylinder turbodiesel runs strong and has an excellent transmission. It can cruise all day at 80+mph ! It really has pep compared to the four door 300d models. The steering is tight. The cruise control does work. I average 27 mpg city/hwy, though probably could achieve much better mpg if I drove 60-70- rather than 75-80+ mph on the highway. With a 21+ gallon fuel tank plus 2.8 gal in reserve, this 300CD has a very far effective travel range before refueling. With regular maintenance, these cars/engines have been known to go over 400k-500k miles before an engine rebuild. This car/engine has not been altered for WVO, nor has it used bio-diesel. I understand though that they are easily converted to running with Bio-diesel or WVO /waste vegetable oil. Either through regular maintenance, age, necessity or precaution, the following items have been repaired/replaced within the last 5 years: Oil has been changed at a minimum of every 12 months or 3000 miles. All fuel filters have been replaced (tank filter, inline and canister fuel filters) New ball joints, tie rods, upper and lower control arms, shocks, brakes, rotors, front and rear wheel bearings. Motor mounts, drive shaft flex disc, both half shaft drive axles were replaced last summer along with the rear wheel bearings. The valve clearances were checked and adjusted when the new fuel injectors were installed in 2011. While this is a very good 300CD overall, please remember it is 28 years old. It does have a few items that must be disclosed: There are a couple small tears in the passenger side headliner near the sunroof opening (see photo) ( covered with clear headliner ‘tape’). The (2) little springs which activate the black sunroof wind deflector to the ‘up’ position upon opening of the sunroof need to be replaced. The climate control works, though it will probably need an AC charge before summer. The interior trunk light does not illuminate upon opening although the bulb seems to be good. There was a small driver side rear panel dent above the wheel (approx @ the 2 o’clock position) (see last photo) in 2006. This occurred by a blind driver backing into the vehicle in a grocery store parking lot at a slow speed. (I was parked and sitting in the driver seat at the time)The dented fender was repaired by the body shop for the local Mercedes dealership. (The repair details are among the paperwork records). The dash is in great shape except for the notorious crack near the speaker on the passenger side (see photos). The power door locks seem to function manually only. I have not had the door lock vacuum system checked yet. Overall, I would not hesitate to drive this 300CD cross country AND then back again! There are however no warranties offered or implied.
