You don’t need to write a big check to own one, they are user friendly, and they embellish the style and performance within the genre. From 1955-1962 there were many different variants produced. The 1500,1600, MKII, and even a twin cam; all available in Coupe and Convertible formats, with a Deluxe option available later as well. The car on offer here isn’t a perfectly restored concours winner, nor is it a project in need of help. It’s a great all rounder, a driver with all the right elements to be enjoyed any time, and priced right. A Pennsylvania car since 1961 this MGA is believed to have had single ownership since this time up until January of 2012. Overall we estimate it to be a 3 owner example. There isn’t much in the way of detailed history other than we know a comprehensive mechanical freshening was completed in 2011. This included an engine rebuild, and an updating of the brakes, tires, and other related components. Much of the service and work was carried out by J and J Motors in Bryn Mawr, PA. We are told the odometer was reset when the rebuild was completed and it has now covered a mere 5,727 miles. Overall it reflects a car that has never been totally restored, rather enjoyed and serviced as needed over the years. It has no doubt had some cosmetic refinishing completed but was done well and doesn’t appear that it was ever a rusty or rotten example at any one given time. The body has an occasional touched up scratch but is consistently shiny throughout. Overall it shows well and nothing short of a driver. The frame rails underneath are straight, the wood floors good, and the trunk area clean with no signs of common rust issues found on these cars. The interior shows to be newer as well and presents nicely. The chrome is presentable but not perfect, as are the gaps. The tires however are new, as are the brakes and many engine components. As such, the car runs out strong with loads of power for a 1500. It stops without any pedal fade, and the handling is sharp and responsive. The oil pressure shows 60 pounds when warm and the temperature stays right where it should. The engine bay is not perfect but is consistent with the rest of the car. Overall this is an opportunity to get into a respectable, driver quality MGA that has been sorted out and is ready for spring. Included in the sale are the original steering wheel, top, and top bows.
