Vehicle Detail

This is a 1948 Triumph T100. This bike is not so good with first impressions, but it is actually a nice candidate to restore. This is a titled motorcycle. Triumph frame/motor numbers did not match until 1950. Both the frame and motor numbers indicate 1948 as the production year. The steering head angle has not been altered, the fork tubers are longer than the stock length. The previous owners though it would be neat to spray paint it and display it from the rafters. Underneath the poorly applied spray paint, the bike is a bit crusty; it is easy to tell that it spent some years outdoors. I could not find any part of the frame that was rusted beyond minor surface rust. It has a cylinder head on it that was badly damaged with broken fins and busted exhaust spigots. We swapped the busted head another identical but not busted cylinder head. The pistons are stuck in the cylinders. I briefly tapped them with a hammer and block of wood. They aren’t going to free up easily, but with heat and lubricant it can be done. We didn’t want to bust the cylinder skirt beating on the pistons so we left it alone. MOTOR: 48 T100 94206 FRAME: TF 18279 GEARBOX: 1312NA The Good: Both motor and Frame are 1948 production year This bike has a title The frame is un-cut with both oil and gas tank mounts in place Has the correct wheels Has the correct gas tank with dash panel cut out The Bad: Spray painted Motor locked up Front Fender stay mounts cut off fork sliders Wrong lower triple clamp (Has lower triple for with horn mounts for nacelle models) Two broken fins on cylinder Primary cover needs repairs Gas tank needs repairs and re-chroming Oil tank needs work Missing : Front/rear fenders and stays Gas tank mount brackets Generator Rear brake internals Correct handlebars and hand controls Foot pegs Headlight ears and headlight Exhaust Seat Push rods Hardware And some other odds and ends This is a restoration project. It will need to be torn down to the crank and every nut /bolt needs to be refinished and repaired. This is definitely not a quick fixer-upper; you’ll be in for the long haul with this bad boy. This motorcycle is a great candidate for a cast iron T100 Restoration.
