This Award Winning Concours restoration is one of the finest R60 in the US. It has traveled less than 600 miles since a full restoration and complete rebuilding. Everything from the crankshaft to the taillight of the R60 has been rebuilt, machined, and replaced, painted and polished. All numbers match on this motorcycle. It is not only beautiful but has gone thru the most extensive mechanical restoration I have ever seen. It is being sold as is but will need nothing and if you prefer to ride it home , come on down! The following is from the proud restorer. They are his notes and detail the type of work done. He is not only a wonderful restoration expert but a Master Machinist who takes unusual pride in his work. His attention to detail and this love of the BMW motorcycle shows everywhere. While the list is extensive it is also incredibly accurate. ENGINE The engine was completely disassembled and inspected, then the engine case was degreased and pressure cleaned. The entire engine case was then reassembled (to seal then bead blasted at a low air pressure to protect the natural factory finish.) The glass bead us fine grade AD. This will just clean the aluminum and leave the natural patina. After the engine was cleaned with the glass bead, it was disassembled and pressure washed again to make sure the engine was perfectly clean. Cylinders were within factory specification at 72MM. These cylinders have never been bored - just honed and cleaned! New rings and new wrist pins were installed. The connecting rods were checked and were well within factory specification. New intake and valves and valve guide stems were installed and a professional three angle valve job was done to improve performance, flow and efficiency. The engine was carefully and meticulously assembled to Factory Manual specifications. Every nut and bolt was torqued to factory specifications. This was assembled with a tremendous amount of precision and care to insure an extremely reliable engine All engine seals used are the more expensive Viton high temperature seals good for temperatures up to 400 degrees. Cylinders were powder coated a high gloss black Competition Coating for maximum finish durability. The engine block was completely assembled the proper run out of the flywheel was checked for the exact factory tolerances before it was set in the frame. New polished stainless steel pushrod tubes and a deep finned aluminum oil pan for capacity and cooler oil were installed. The entire engine was coated to seal and protect the aluminum engine parts and hold the natural patina and luster. The correct Bing carburetors were disassembled and soaked in carburetor cleaner for one week before replacing all needle valve springs, o-rings and floats. ID # 1812856 New fuel lines with in line filters were installed. The transmission was checked and inspected and found to be in excellent condition. A new clutch and clutch actuator felt was installed. All transmission seals were replaced. The speedometer was sent to Alto for cleaning calibration, servicing and a new bezel and glass were installed. The speedometer works like new. The brakes were upgraded to new style brake shoe compound. The replacement allows for vastly improved braking under all conditions but particularly in the rain. The brake drums are smooth and true so there is no pulsing using either brake,The rear end was cleaned and completely rebuilt with new bearings, gaskets and all new seal drive splines are in excellent condition and the new bearingsninsure that all tolerances are within BMW specification. The paint job is a truly wonderful and maticulousl job. Every effort was made to insure excellence. The entire bike was powder coated and baked at Competition Coaling for better wear and durability and life. The tank and fenders were painted base coat and 4 coats of clear, The tank and fenders were correctly hand striped by the artist who has been painting motorcycles for approximately 35 yrs and loves his work.The bike has the highly desirable large "Sport tank" which is the original made for this bike. The bike tank has the original red coating on the inside.. This is the optional large capacity Sport Tank that came from the factory. It is rare to find the R60 with a Sport Tank installed. The tank emblems have the polished stainless steel trim rings that accent the emblems and are a eye catcher, The rims are brand new and were laced trued; with new stainless spokes. New wheel bearings and seats were also installed and checked for proper interference. Run deviation of the wheels was checked before the tires were mounted. As you can see in the pic are new Michelin tires. Along with the new rims and tires are new tubes and rubber rim straps the bike has polished stainless steel axels for the front and rear wheels. New polished stainless caps were added to accent the wheel assemblies. Extra care and attention with the wheel assembly provides great dividends with a smoother ride and better handling machine. The steering was also upgraded with tapered roller bearings for more precise steering control. New EPCO stainless steel mufflers and headers were recently installed. an old set of headers and mufflers for the break in period, tune up and carburetor adjustments. Additional Information: There are two rare and unusual option on this bike. The first is a Hella Spotlight. This light is in perfect condition and in working order. Additionally, there is a Denfeld original Bread Loaf seat on the rear fender. It is in excellent condition and is again a very difficult item to find in this condition. All Aluminum parts including the kick starter, shifter, clutch & brake levers were hand polished to a high luster. A stainless bolt kit for greater durability and the original bar end trun signals were also polished. Feel free to email me with any questions.
