Vehicle Detail
A...M...G...three little letters that make all the difference. For sale is a very nice Mercedes S55 AMG in AMG Obsidian Black on a Black interior (actually called AMG Charcoal Gray in Nappa Leather and Burl Walnut) with very low mileage for the age of the car. I had not been planning to buy a new AMG until later this year but I have found, and I am buying, an awesome 2008 S63. So, unfortunately, I need to sell this car. It is in excellent condition and has been babied the entire time I’ve owned it. I have all the Mercedes books and all service has been completed by the Mercedes Dealer, RBM of Atlanta (the Mercedes dealer on the North side of Atlanta). The car also comes with TWO key fobs. There is one door ding on the rear quarter panel. Because I wasn’t planning on selling the car I just have not had time to have it taken out. There are also two small paint chips on the front bumper (I included a picture of it) that are the same situation, I just haven't had time to fix them. If you request I can send a picture. If you buy this awesome car at the "Buy it Now" price I will have the door ding and paint chips repaired. I just happened to have installed brand new tires front and back so you’ve got that going for you. Everything works on the car and it looks very pretty. The mats are also new so you won’t need to buy them either. The hot-rod S55 AMG (original price was $99,500) is powered by a hand-built (in the classic ‘one man, one engine’ rule of AMG) 5.4-liter V8 producing 354 horsepower with 391 foot-pounds of torque. Standard equipment on the S55 AMG (classified as a Low Emissions Vehicle, even with all that power) includes an active suspension, 18-inch AMG Monoblock alloy wheels with high-performance tires, ventilated front seats, AMG aerodynamic enhancements, and a trunk-mounted 6 disc CD changer. Did I mention the 354-hp handbuilt 5.4L AMG power? And don't forget its 391 lb-ft of torque at just 3000 revs. The rest of the package can handle the punch: Active Body Control suspension, special 18-in. alloy wheels, fabulously supportive Nappa leather-trimmed sport seats (the seats have a built in massage feature for driving long trips, it actually makes a difference!), white LED gauges, and just about every normal S-Class option as standard. This fabulous powerplant is smooth, linear, torquey, earns an LEV emissions rating, and hauls this 4200-lb mini-limo 0 to 60 in just 5.6 sec. But, the real thing you’ll use is the 60 to 80 acceleration when passing on the highway, super fast. The five-speed SportShift-controlled automatic gets equal kudos. Body roll is kept to a minimum via the wide rolling stock and ABC-assisted suspension, yet the ride remains cush and quiet. High-speed stability is faultless, even at 150 plus (trust me on this one) The engine is the bulletproof M113 E55 and is a 5.4 L (5439 cc) version with the same 97 mm bore as the E500 but with a longer 92 mm stroke. Specs are: Output is 342 hp (255 kW) to 367 hp (255 kW to 270 kW) at 5500 rpm with 376 ft·lbf (510 N·m) to 391 ft·lbf (510 Nm - 530 Nm) of torque at 2800-5400 rpm. The S-Class cars are big, long, rich and luxurious looking, unmistakably Mercedes, with flagship rather than dramatic styling. If you can separate the styling from the image, it's not dramatically eye-catching. It says rich, at least as much as gorgeous, a classic wolf in sheep’s clothing. I don’t hot rod the car around but have occasionally beat up on Vettes and Mustangs for fun. It’s always funny to see the expression on their faces at the next light when they realized they just got pwned by a Mercedes sedan. This car has a similar body style as the S430 and S500 but with all the AMG perks. The S55 ran from 2001 to 2006. The exterior body for the AMG did not change at all during that period. In 2004 they changed the wheels and in 2005 they changed the rear light look. Some of the features of the car are full leather upholstery, heated and cooled front seats with built in massage, built in navigation and screen as part of the Mercedes COMMAND system, Bose audio system, ESP Electronic Stability Program, and a sunroof. The car is already wired, by the Mercedes dealer, for XM or Sirius radio. It has the AMG exterior finish that sharpens styling and handling includes an AMG front air dam, rear apron and side skirts, plus the 8.5x18-inch front and 9.5x18-inch rear AMG Monoblock alloy wheels with 245/45YR18 front and 275/40YR18 rear high-performance tires. The tires are really huge and make not only a big difference in handling but also the mean, beefy appearance of the car.
