This cool car has been located in our small Virginia town since it was new. I have personally known about this car for 17 years. The long-time 2nd owner refused to sell the car until recently when health problems made it difficult for him to drive. He finally decided it was time to pass it on to someone who can enjoy it as much as he has in the last 24 years. Let's start-out by saying that the car does NOT have it's original engine. The 327 V-8 that was born in the car finally wore-out in the early 2000's and was replaced with a rebuilt 283 of the correct vintage. It has been upgraded with an Edelbrock aluminum intake and carb, headers and dual point distributor. As far as we can tell, the original 4 speed transmission and rear are in the car. About 10 years ago, the car was repainted in its original color of Ember Red. At about the same time, the seat upholstery, headliner and carpeting were all replaced with stock material. A couple of years ago, a modern CD player was installed under the dash and speakers were placed on the rear seat so as not to cut any holes in the dash or package tray. The car has a brand-new battery. She's riding on a good set of whitewall radial tires, wrapping steel wheels and full SS wheel covers. A set of 60's era gauges are under the dash. Dual sport mirrors, bucket seats, console and seat belts round-out the package. This Impala starts, runs, drives & stops very well. It needs nothing to be enjoyed as-is! The frame, trunk and floors are solid with just a small amount of rust here & there (see pictures). The speedometer & tachometer are disconnected and not functioning. The original AM radio comes on and makes noise but does not play and the clock is non-functional. The heater core has been disconnected and I don't know whether it's functional or not. The 63 Impala SS is one of the most desireable early, full-size muscle cars. From it's convertible inspired hardtop to the engine turned dash & trim accents, this is one stylish car! This big beautiful Impala sounds great, doesn't smoke or make funny noises and is ready to be enjoyed by a new owner. Be ready for the summer cruising season.
