Vehicle Detail

SO SORRY ALL PREVIOUS BIDDERS!!!! ebay unlisted the car because I didn't check "rebuilt title" in the description. I have checked the proper box and am now re-listing. I am so sorry if it caused anybody any inconvenience or if you felt the car was misrepresented. Please understand that I in no way meant to misrepresent the vehicle. I have done my best to describe the car in as much detail as possible (warts and all) so that nobody can claim that I misrepresented it in any way. The current title from SC does not list it as rebuilt, so I failed to check the box appropriately. I have included a photo of the title so everybody can see it. Again, so sorry to all the bidders who will have to rebid. ebay gave me no warning whatsoever. If they had I would have corrected it immediately. Anyway, happy bidding again to all of you and good luck! This vehicle is a beautiful example of the classic Pininfarina-designed Peugeot 505 sedan. It has a sporty and aggressive stance, with alloy wheels and rear spoiler, and this unique vehicle is still capable of turning heads. This vehicle is looking for a new home, and somebody who can give it some TLC and a new lease on life. With only 165,000 miles for a 1985 model year vehicle, this car is by no means worn out by Peugeot standards. The car is in running condition, with a few issues that need to be worked out, but that are by no means unmanageable. Anybody willing to use a little elbow grease can have the car in top condition with very little investment. Cosmetically, the car sports a beautiful, professionally done paint job in a very classy Lexus opal white, which is almost a silver color. Most of the paint is in very good condition (paint job is ~15 years old), with a few areas of concern that could be repaired with a little patience and time. The car had been used as a daily driver for the past couple of years after coming out of storage. With the purchase of a newer vehicle, we chose not to renew the registration and it has been sitting for the past 9 months, and I'm finally willing to let it go. I hope that she will find the right owner who will give her a better life than I can provide right now. In the interest of full disclosure, I will attempt to list all known issues with this car. It is not my intent to hide anything from potential buyers as I hope that anybody who bids on this car will have a desire to invest some time and work in this car. First the good:The car is in running condition. It can be driven safely and legally if desired. The repaint job was done professionally (~15 years ago) and most of the body is still in decent condition. The tires (BFGoodrich Traction T/A's) have a lot of tread left and were replaced ~3 years ago.Starter and alternator were both rebuilt and replaced in the last 3 yearsCar has original French headlights (very rare) and both are intactThe mileage is not unreasonable for a 28 year old car. Much of this can be attributed to periods when the car was stored and in general it has not been used heavily And the not so good:There are three relatively serious areas of paint damage (see pics). The first two are in the rear wheel wells and were causes by a loose tire cable rubbing on the wheel well when the tires were cabled in icy weather. The other area is on the left rear panel next to the trunk lid (and extending onto the truck lid). This was cause by a forklift fork nicking the car. There is a very small indentation to go with it.There is an alternator charging issue. The alternator has tested as good but it will not charge unless you manually short it to the battery. There is a faulty wire somewhere in the system that causes the alternator to not start charging. Again, you can short it manually and it charges fine, but it remains an issueThe car sat in storage for several years before 2009, when I started driving it again. The storage was indoors, but it did have some mice in it.The CD player is an aftermarket deal that I installed several years ago (I have owned the car for 14 years). The CD player doesn't work, but the radio (AM/FM) still doesThe sunroof will not open. In addition, the seal is starting to fail and at high speeds in the rain water can leak into the headliner. The headliner is misshapen due to this, but it is intact.Cruise control is not workingA/C blower fan is not working (I do have a used motor to replace it but haven't installed it yet). As such I don't know f the A/C compressor is workingThe auxiliary cooling fan does not work. In hot weather in traffic the engine can quickly overheat without this fan kicking on. It is not an issue when cruising on the freeway or at speeds over 40 MPH, but if you get stuck in traffic it can cause issues. There are sure to be many other issues in such an old car, but I have seen many 505's in much worse condition. Any other issues I am not aware of may surface and of course new problems may pop up. I have not invested a lot of time fixing cosmetic or non-essential issues, but I have kept it in good mechanical condition in order to commute safely. Overall I think the car is good enough for somebody looking for a little bit of a project but still wants to be able to drive it. And with the overall scarcity of Peugeots in general, and of the 505 Turbo specifically, hopefully you won't let this one slip away.
