Vehicle Detail
I purchased this truck on ebay 6 years ago from a man in California and had truck shipped to the Carolina Coast. He refurbished/rebuilt truck himself in addition to bodywork/Paint.Truck was Beautiful when I received her and has run great during this time.Ive put under 20,000 miles on truck only doing basic maintenence, brakes, water pump, belts, hoses, manifold gaskets ,oil changes, tune ups etc. However the east coast has not been kind to her and more importantly all the previous body repairs,{ bondo} have all failed and are showing themselves,in addition there are some areas, mostly where the body connects with the frame,in addition to the floorboards that will need immediate attention as the cab seems to be settling.{due to bracing below cab rusted out}All of the metal damage is obvious.I have tried to post as many pictures as I can to show the worst of it.The Frame/undercarriage is all solid as is most of the body parts except for problem areas.Bed has a good bit of rust, again, mostly at connecting points. This truck needs a metal/body man/woman now...Within the last 6 months Ive had a number of issues present themselves and I am not in a position to deal with the nesc. repairs so it is time to find a new home for her.I will try to describe everything the best I can,Please feel free to ask questions,Ill do my best to answer them.Of most recent concern is the transmission.Started having problems shifting into 1rst/reverse,progressively has gotten worse to the point Im lucky to catch either.I replaced shifter rod bushings as one was barely there, adjusted clutch, linkage,no change. The clutch is fully adjusted at this point and should be replaced soon, linkage seems to be moving properly. When I remove linkage and engage manually,I have 1rst gear, not reverse...when linkage is connected I can still engage gears by babying the clutch, but it wants to jump out of gear...Hmmmmm.Im trying to gain more info on the inards of this transmission.Floor mount highbeam switch failed,I cut the wires,it needs to be replaced.Windshield wiper switch works sometimes, not always when I need them.I cleaned the contacts today but havent tried them yet?Friend turned the door handle in the wrong direction and I think snapped the connecting rod,I hope to pull the door panel tommorow and see whats up.Some play in front end parts,{ball joints, tie rods} not terrible but should be addressed.New tires on front, about 1000 miles on rear.Rear bumper is bent {right rear} .Front seat has a cheap cover on it,original seat is in poor condition, however is complete and springs seem good .Rear window seal is dry/cracking not leaking, side and front seals were replaced when painted { 6 years ago} shocks are old, should be replaced. One of the hood springs is not working well.Im trying to describe all the things that I can see/know to be wrong with the truck. If I can think of anything else I will add more info this week. This truck surely needs attention but still has plenty of life left in her.She starts easily, runs strong, for the most part all original and would be a fine canidate for complete restoration[As the longbeds are becoming more difficult to find } or with basic repairs could still be used as a low cost work truck. My desire is to sell this truck so I will be listing it with no reserve.Shipping/delivery is on the buyer, I will assist if I can.Again please ask questions.I am not an expert, however I have owned a half dozen 60s-70s models F100s and have wrestled my way through most of the common problems,{this transmission has me a bit stumped though} I love these old trucks which is why I keep buying them, and will most likely seek out another in the future. On Jan-20-13 at 02:44:59 PST, seller added the following information: Truck does have overdrive...On Jan-21-13 at 11:29:32 PST, seller added the following information: California tag on front came w/truck,I left it on,N.C. only requires back plate.Truck has been registered/insured in N.C. since I purchased truck.Best I can tell all numbers match/are original to truck, and match Title. On Jan-21-13 at 11:37:50 PST, seller added the following information: Missing drivers door pocket/zipper/carrying case..also drivers side leather armrest is bad...some of the engine/transmission mounts{Rubber} are dry/cracking{obviously not replaced at rebuild. On Jan-21-13 at 11:41:13 PST, seller added the following information: has original radio/doesnt work...also has below dash cassete player/stereo mounted.Turnlight switch in column is broke,I have a n.o.s. switch that will come with truck...never got around to installing it.On Jan-23-13 at 11:47:04 PST, seller added the following information: Hubcaps look to be from a later model Ford....Air filter isnt original....On Jan-23-13 at 14:39:24 PST, seller added the following information: Still on 12 v generator.....truck runs/sounds like a stock motor vs.stroked/built.....
