Vehicle Detail

I'm selling my 82 Accord because I bought a truck and it doesn't suit my needs anymore. I got the car from my dad in 2009 with about 45k; he basically got it for free through the original owner's estate. It's a 3 speed automatic with power brakes and a/c. As with most carbureted vehicles the car is cold-natured and needs to warm up a little before it runs optimally. Once warm it runs good. It's really easy to work on, and has been a great first car for me. I've done a lot of work on it since I've owned it and kept it pretty clean. The bad: - uses a little oil (about a quart a month, with regular driving) - the carburetor has been repaired with parts from an '81 and '83 and does not function perfectly. You need to pump the gas a few times before hitting the starter. It will fire up, and usually die. Repeat pumping and starting once or twice and it fires up and stays running, usually only if you give it a little gas. After it warms up, you don't have to do this. When the motor is cold, you have to drive with two feet, keeping the idle up at stops. This usually only lasts for about five minutes, and the car only bogs down and dies when you come to a complete stop. It might need the timing advanced a little. - runs a little rich, thus fouls plugs after a few months (they are about a month old at the moment). As roomy as the engine compartment is, you can change the plugs for $8 and ten minutes time. You'll notice that starting is harder, idle is rougher, and gas mileage suffers when they need replaced. I usually do it every 3 months or so. - my dad backed into me a couple years ago in our driveway, behind the driver's side door. I've done some of the rough body work (see pictures). I honestly just wanted it to be presentable so I hammered it and filled it, and it's been fine for about two years now. (I even have pictures from right after it happened, to show the improvement. Just ask and I'll email them to you.) I didn't go out of my way to make it look good. - the muffler rotted off this summer (I have it). My dad took it to Midas shortly after he got the car so most of the exhaust system is intact. It is NOT loud. I patched up the resonator with shingle flashing and it's held for the last couple years, and it seems to do most of the work of quieting the motor. The good: - new water pump - new timing belt - new valve cover gasket - new accessory belts - new front pads, one new rotor (other rotor is good) - new shoes and drum on the driver's side rear wheel (the passenger side will need to be replaced soon but the drum is good) - front tires are only a year old - alternator and battery are less than a year old - two extra partial carburetors go with the car - intact interior, what I think to be the original floor mats - documentation for most repairs - aftermarket AM/FM/cassette - my dad mounted rear 6.5" speakers in the shock towers - working A/C, and it blows pretty cold. Hasn't been updated to modern refrigerant, but I don't think it needs it yet. I have the piece of trim that's missing in the photos of the damaged side. There is probably more that I forgot to mention, so feel free to ask questions. I'm happy to arrange for an inspection or a test drive for serious inquirers. The car is located in Northside, a neighborhood of Cincinnati. I would love for this car to go to someone who either likes old Honda's or does most of the routine maintenance on their own and can take good care of this uncommonly well-preserved old car. Thanks for looking!
