Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my baby....... before my wife and I had our other 3 babies. 1974 FJ40. This Cruiser is the best three FJ's a have bought over the years to make this one complete. The reason for selling her is the warehouse where I am currently storing the truck for free is being sold. I don't have room for her at the house and also I just don't know when i would be able to complete what I started so long ago. To my delight I went tot the warehouse a few weeks ago and after I drained & replaced the oil, drained gas tank and replaced with good fuel, and dropped in a new battery she started right up on the second crank. The first crank was without spark plugs so the oil pump could run awhile off the starter (it's been awhile since she ran last). I bought the truck in Fort Myers Florida when I lived there. That was about 20 years ago. She has been in a state of tear down or rebuild since then. STEPS TAKEN:Body and frame were separated. Frame was cleaned and under coated. Rear tub was rebuilt with 1/8 in steel and diamond plateTub, firewall and front fenders were painted red1961 283 Corvette motor was installed after it was striped down and rebuilt. (1 thing to mention: timing chain was replaced with gear drive)advanced adapter bell housing was used to mount motor to original 4 speed transmission (transmission / transfer case / drive shafts / axles / leaf springs are originalStock drum breaks were completely gone thru. New cylinders and pads were installed. parts from CCOTWiring was replaced and a new harness was developed so that stock instrument cluster worked with new motor.Gas door off the 75' was welded in.started on prepping body for paintAs the truck sits now she needs in my opinion 10-15 hours of body work to get her finished for paint. Most of that work is on the hard doors and top. Then it will just be bolting her back together and finish work. Both front seats will need to be reupholstered or covered. I only have one jump seat. Never bothered me since I was not going to use them in the final project anyway. I have a ton of finish parts bought from CCOT that will be included:new master cylindernew poly gas tanknew badgesgaskets for topper & door trim piecesrear bumpersgrease-able shackle boltsnew bushings roll barAlso I have extra parts that can go with truck as well4 speed transtransfer casedrive shaftsCarb off F2 motorfront grill5 alum 15" rims3" alum nerf bars (they are on the truck now)Truck is located in a warehouse in North Fond du Lac, WI. If your local and want to see the truck before auction closes send me a message. I am pretty flexible with my time. If you need the truck shipped, I do a lot of large equipment shipping and I might be able to get a decent rate for you. We can talk about that separately. I have taken quite a few photos. If you dont see something specific let me know. Please don't confuse dust for rust. On Jan-12-13 at 14:50:58 PST, seller added the following information: As of Sat 4:30 PM Central time I have 85 watchers and have shown the truck 3 times and will be showing the truck 2 times tomorrow. Everyone that has seen the truck loves it, just saying cause it's the truth. If your waiting to bid at the last minute you are most likely going to miss out on a great FJ. Just giving everyone a heads up. I also have put a bunch more photos in a photo bucket account. Message me and I will send you the link. Thanks again for your interest!
