Vehicle Detail

Please read the description carefully! For sale is a 1974 MGB. Last of the metal-bumper B's and the last before unleaded fuel. It's a convertible, as the MGB's were. I bought this car for my 13 year old son to restore, but he's shown no interest in it for a year, so off it goes. The paint looks good in the pictures, but is not great up close, and has some scratches and such. If you are going to rebuild it, you'd probably want to repaint it. I've started disassembly but have most of the major pieces. The picture shows the grill and front bumper removed, but I have them and they're in fair condition. The seats and dashboard are removed. The seats will need to be recovered, but I have them to go with the car. The dashboard is torn up above the glove box, where they all deteriorate, but I have the plastic patch piece to go over that. Two sets of instruments go with the car, I've cleaned and tested one set and I'll include both sets. Wiring is removed from the interior but is all there; some plastic plugs have deteriorated from age and will have to be replaced or hard soldered when reassembling. The good: the body feels solid. No rust in the rockers that I can tell, and the trunk area is in great shape. The hood and trunk lid will need some straightening but are not in bad shape. Fenders are good (minor dings) as are the door skins. The car has some new parts: gas tank, brakes, master cylinder. The brakes need to be bled, but pump up firm and would stop the car when we towed it. I have new door panel interior pieces and will include them. Glass is good. Engine appears to be original, and is the twin-SU carburetor model. No air pump present. The car has the desirable wire wheels, but they'll need to be bead blasted and painted. The front suspension feels firm (steering box, ball joints, etc. felt OK while the car was being towed at 20mph or so). I don't think I'm missing much to reassemble the car, but just no longer want to do it. The bad: the floor pans are rotted out. I started cutting one out but lost interest in the project. I do have two new floor pans and will include them with the car (Moss motors pieces, brand new). You see new ones in the pictures, but they are just laying in there to see if they fit. You'll have to grind/cut the old ones out and plug weld the new ones in. (The good news is that there isn't any other metal that appears to be bad: just the floor pans.) The carpet was trashed, so I threw it out. I've never started the engine. The previous owner said that it would turn over, but he hadn't ran it in several years. The convertible top will need to be replaced. You'll need new carpet and some interior pieces (the good news is that they're readily available, and are really cheap, and it's also easy to make your own). I have a clear Louisiana title in my name. If you want pics of anything else, let me know, and feel free to email with questions. I've been as honest as I can be with the car's condition. This is NOT something that you'll spend an afternoon with and drive off in! It will require moderate mechanical skills, some time, and a little cash. I've owned several of these cars and love them, and hate to let this one go, but have two other cars in progress and know that I'll never get to the B without my son being interested in it.
