Vehicle Detail
For sale 1941 Dodge Coupe in running condition. This car has a good start at becoming a cool hot rod or rat rod. My wife got the car four years ago with hopes of finishing it but we never quite could find the "extra" money to do it. We bought the car, I drove it home about 45 miles and it drove well although stinky from running really rich. The guy we bought it from got it from a guy for payment of a debt, so he really never wanted it. It sat in our garage un-touched until about four months ago. With hopes of getting it running right and taking it to some body shops to get estimates I started getting it back into running shape. I have done quite a bit of work on it, simple mechanical stuff, changed spark plugs, belts, hoses, vacuum lines, spark plug wires...etc. It had some substantial transmission leaks that I fixed, the output shaft seal and housing seal. We sent it to a local mechanic to get the carburetor adjusted, I am really not much of a mechanic, I can changed parts and have a limited knowledge of the motor, but not the finer points, he set the timing and put on a new distributor cap, fixed some vacuum leaks and some other small stuff. Other things that have been done are a new Edelbrock carburetor, starter solenoid, valve cover gaskets, pvc valves and grommets, thermostat, Engine oil change and filter, Tranny fluid change and filter, a new battery and flushed coolant system. I also installed a new wiring harness, it is basically run with the exception of the lights and the dash, I was not sure of the gauges and lights that were going to be put back in. The car has a 1977 Oldsmobile 455 engine in it so it should have plenty of power; it has a GM turbo 350 transmission, and the front end and rear are from a 1973 Chevy Chevelle. It has a GM tilt steering column, newer dual exhaust system. It has newer tires and drives straight, no shimmying, and handles corners well. As for what it needs to finish it body and paint of course, the floorboard has some patches in it already, but it needs a couple more. The bottom of the doors and trunk are rusted, and the trunk needs a couple of patches. The glass is all there; however the driver window glass broke, as well as the driver side windshield, the rest is in good shape. This coupe has roll down windows in the back seat, which is cool, and they work fine. The interior other than the seats is missing and it needs a headliner. The gas pedal and brake pedal need some work, I do not like the way they look, but they are functional. I think it still needs adjustment to the carb; it seems to be running rich/smoking. Also the dash gauges and lights as mentioned before, then finish hooking up the wiring harness. I have some extra original parts that go with it, steering wheel, door window mechanism, and radio we found at a swap meet. I have a clear VA title in hand and the car is currently registered as an antique. We really hate to sell it, my wife loves the car, but we know that we will not be able to finish it anytime soon; the best thing right now is to let it go. Please ask any questions before bidding, if you need other pics, let me know, I will try to get them for you. The car is in Chesapeake VA(23323), and the buyer should be prepared to pay for shipping, however I will work with the buyer for delivery or shipping depending on the distance. On Jan-05-13 at 08:46:38 PST, seller added the following information: I added pics of the inside and engine compartment, All of the seats are not in it right now, but I have them and they go with the car, like I said the car was stripped in preparation to go to a body shop to get redone. Thanks for all the interest.
