Several features distinguish the 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon from previous models. Perhaps the most significant upgrade was a more powerful engine. Starting in 1986 and continuing through the end of its U.S. run in 1991, the Vanagon was equipped with a 2.1-liter water-cooled four-cylinder engine that generated 95 horsepower, up from 83 horsepower the previous year. The engine used an updated fuel-injection system called the Digifant. It has the standard four speed manual transmission and it is a rear-wheel-drive vehicle that is also equipped with rack and pinion steering, power-assisted brakes, and front and rear independent suspension. And from 1986 on, the Vanagon came with an optional air conditioner that was significantly improved over earlier versions and this one has it. This van runs and drives great! This van is in really good condition considering its all original paint, interior and engine. The interior is in excellent condition, the only thing it would need to make it perfect is a new canvas for the pop up roof. As you can see in the pictures, its still useable but it has the normal wear spots from where it folds against the hinges when the top is closed. The body has a few minor dents and scrapes but nothing from real accidents just parking lot stuff. You can see a little rust in the pictures but its pretty much surface stuff, nothing rusted through. In the pictures you can see that it needs a new plastic corner for the rear bumper, I have it I just haven't put it on yet. The tires are BRAND new, the van is currently registered so its ready to hit the road. I live in Antioch California and that is where the van can be seen and picked up from. If you win it and need to fly in to get it, the closest airports are Oakland, San Fransisco and Sacramento. I can pick you up from the airport if needed to make it easier for whoever wins it to pick it up. I listed the airports in order from closest and easiest for me to get to but any of the three are fine so you can get the cheapest flight possible. I need the van to be paid for within 7 days of the auction ending but I can store the van longer and safely if needed, just please discuss the details with me before bidding. Also I need a deposit within 24 hours of the auctions end that can be paid either through Paypal or you can deposit it directly into my bank account. I will give the account number to the winner if needed. This is not a reserve auction and I am not putting a buy it now price on here so bid with confidence.
