Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1941 Ford Pickup hot rod. It sits on a 1955 Chevrolet second series ½ ton truck frame. All of the running gear is stock Chevy truck from the 55-59 series. The motor is a 235 inline six stovebolt from 57-59 with a 54/55 head. I have not looked at the transmission to see the exact year, however it is the stock 3 speed manual which is now shifted from the floor. The rear end is also stock. I recently purchased the truck for something to tinker with, however due to a death in the family I am inheriting another vehicle and must make room in the garage, so this one’s gotta go. If I had a 3rd car garage I would definitely be keeping it, however I’m not allowed to store vehicles outside in my neighborhood, and wouldn’t want to keep this out anyway. The truck was initially from Michigan. After I got acquired it, it went to a local hot rod mechanic who went through all of the systems to make sure it was safe to drive. After checking everything he gave it the okay for the road. It had a new one wire alternator, shift bracket/linkage, and front shock mounts re-welded. The motor does have a slow oil drip from the rear main seal, as most older vehicles do. The transmission does not leak, however the rear end has a leak from the pinion seal. These are both easy fixes I had planned on doing this winter, I just won’t be able to with the other vehicle I’m getting. The truck runs and drives. It is a rat rod style truck so don’t expect that new car ride or handling. It squeaks, creeks, and groans. The motor runs strong after it warms and up and shifts through all the gears fine. I’ve driven it around locally in the 30 to 35mph range. At around 40 mph the truck starts to wander on the road so I would not recommend driving it on the highway until the front end is looked at. Even though it as given the okay to drive by my mechanic it probably needs to have some of the suspension parts replaced such as spring bushings. Due to the stock gearing I think the top cruising speed is probably around 50 – 55mph. The tires are good and all hold air. Brakes are stock manual drums, but it looks as though the master cylinder has been upgraded to a later GM, I believe from the 60s. The body is a 1941 Ford pickup cab that has been chopped and channeled. It has a front and rear window, but no side glass. The passenger door opens and closes fine with the inside door handle. The driver’s side door opens with both the inside and outside handle, but it needs to be adjusted to close easier. The body does have some type of bondo or filler which you can see in the pictures as well as plenty of rust. The dash board is from a Dodge with Dodge gauges. The dash does light up with the headlights, however none of the gauges work. I have no idea if they have the ability to work once hooked up or not. The vehicle has been converted to 12 volt. I’m 5-11 and fit in the truck fine. 6-2 is probably about the tallest the driver could be due to the way the steering wheel sits. I think it fits comfortably, but I like having my steering wheel low. The headlights, taillights, brakes and rear turn signal lights work. The bed is a handmade plywood bed with wood roll pan and Cadillac taillights. The 5 gallon jerry can in the bed is the fuel tank. The front grille is from a Mercedes. As you can see from the pictures the frame has been notched in the front and rear to allow for the flipped stock axles with lowering blocks. If you have any other questions about anything on the truck let me know and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge. It is titled as a 1941 Ford pickup. I have a clear Indiana title in my name for the truck. Unless you are extremely close I would recommend having the truck towed. While I will not make shipping arrangements for you, I will help load the vehicle. You are more than welcome to come out and take the truck for a spin prior to bidding. Please DO NOT bid if you do not plan to buy. Vehicle sold AS-IS where is. No warranty stated, expressed, or implied. A $500 non refundable deposit is due 48 hours after the end of the auction through Paypal. I will accept the remainder of the payment with cash or Bank/wire transfer. I will accept a certified check if you don’t want to do a bank transfer but I will not release the vehicle until the check has completely cleared, which usually takes at least a week. *Vehicle is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early if needed.
